I’d like to use the metars to update the local/sky icon and for wdl to use. I’d also like to use it for humidity until I get that sensor plugged in.
I have gone into FTP/Metar setup, In the bottom dialogue set NZWN.TXT in the use this metar station id, and also in Use this metar for local sky…, ticked this line and the use the humidity line. I also turned on the big switch in this dialogue.
In the top dialogue I set a destination of wdisplay\download as the metar download directory, for testing set download times to every 15 mins, turned on the big switch here as well.
I then clicked test - and nothing except a WD FTPUPD application starting, with a start time/date but no sign of a file download.
Think I got it sorted. I turned off all the ftp stuff in the top dialogue, tuned ON the main internet switch and voila! I have humidity, dew point etc etc and a new “mostly cloudy” icon.
Hi Brian,
yes it does produce a rather stepped graph, but thats just the nature of the data I guess. It will do the job just fine until I can get the sensor plugged in. The other info is quite good too, although WDL was saying clear skies at 30,000 ft last night - just what I needed to know
BTW - are the metars stored anywhere in WD, or does the data just get read and discarded?
