I am presently running 2 cameras but can NOT get the 2nd one to work. I have before, but now I can’t remember what I did 6 months ago to get it running. I have a D-Link Camera DCS G900 streaming Live Video, and a Logitech camera…but can NOT get that one to come up as a second camera to give me updated pictures every minute. WHAT AM I NOT DOING in Weather Display to get this to work? I have been racking my brain out for hours and am totally out of ideas now…BUT IT DOES WORK!
I’m actually an On-Air Television Meteorologist here in Dallas, Texas, and work for the Fox Network. Any ideas would be appreciated and a ‘step by step’ guide somewhere would be great. Once again, look at my web site and you’ll notice that the streaming video is fine, but I can NOT get the Logitech camera to come up in the 2nd box.
I went through this a long time ago, here is one thread on using multiple webcams, Multiple WebCams
Maybe it will give you some ideas or places to look for problems. I don’t run any webcam now. I am currently working on the Mac version of WD and I haven’t tried hooking up a webcam yet as I don’t now if Brian has that function working in the Mac version. Once it’s working in the Mac version I could try setting this up again as my iMac has a built-in camera and I still have my Logitech 4000.
Thanks, Dan, I appreciate the insight. It gets frustrating as hell when you spend hours and hours on something like this when you know it’s probably a setting or two thats off. Its really upsetting when you know you had it working perfectly a while back but NOW you can’t remember.
Are there any ‘step by step’ instructions on this? I will go to the link you suggested.
Thanks, Ronnie. This should help me out quite a bit. Hopefully anyway. I’m going to make a copy of that and follow it step by step again. Looking at it though, it appears they are talking about 1 camera, AND NOT 2. How does the second one play a factor? I haven’t read through it thoroughly yet so maybe I’m wrong here, but will give it a try tonight. Again, 1 camera is working great at www.4caster.tv.
Thanks again for the help. Do you have a website running cameras? Curious…
The gentleman who commented after you confuses me. I don’t know what he is referring to or talking about.
Jaxweather (Bob) has/had multiple cameras running in the past but I’m not sure if he just used the files created and another program other than WD to overlay text and then upload to a website.
Ron I also run two cameras without any issues. The link I provided will give you the setup information you require. When you open Web cam capture you will see a tab for #2 web cam. Select your camera, select enable and select you file names and directory.
Thanks, Ronnie. I take it, or can you, (I haven’t gone through this yet) use the SAME DIRECTORY for your cameras…or do you have to set 2 different directories up? Once again, 1 camera streams live video and the other (Logitech) updates a ‘picture’ every minute or two.
I look forward to trying this when I get home tonight. I believe the files…or where they are being saved(?) is whats confusing the system and ‘different’ folders are possibly being used. I think I need to start from the beginning of your stuff. BUT, the streaming video IS working fine…just not the 2nd camera…
Hello Ron…I have supplied a picture of my old setup. The only thing that is missing is where you select the camera you are using for #2 Web Cam. If you do not see you camera in the selection window you may need to restart your computer. Again I hope this has helped.
I noticed that you do NOT have anything in the 1st window…where I believe is the type of camera you’re using. Do you not have to have something their? Curious…
I followed the instructions from the earlier thead and still can NOT get the 2nd camera to come up. ACTUALLY, it says NOTHING about hooking up a 2nd camera. My D-Link Camera is working fine (streaming video) but again I can NOT get the Logitech camera to come up and take a picture a minute…It worked before, but now I can’t seem to figure out why…frustrating as hell spending countless hours on this…
My WD Version is 10.37f build 04
My Webcamcapture Version is 6.2
Check my website and you’ll see what I mean at: www.4caster.tv
I beg of anyone for additional insight or help…
Thanks

Ron - can you do some screen dumps of the WDwebcamCapture program from the systray camera icon please.
If you can’t see that, then go to Control Panel - Webcam - current webcam image/main settings and choose the button lower right - [setup/view live webcam capture]. That will get a camera icon in the bottom right in the Systray.
use this to find the first Tab on the left [Capture Settings] and from there it should find your camera if it is usb connected to the pc. If you have a TV/AV signal coming in you will need a PCI TVCapture card and they just about all take in AV as well.
If you have an image file already created on the hard drive (or perhaps even a network?) then you can use the [Use from file source - select file] box top left.
Capture a screen shot of settings there.
From there you can go to the Save tab and save it as a renamed file called webcamimage.jpg because that is what you are trying to import into your website. Give us a capture of that page too.
Also there is a streaming video option there too but perhaps you are using that already?
Now, you can also add overlay text to that picture from the overlay tab… just tick the blue options in the center - the white box there will allow you to add text to the weather tags, or just a label you add.
Going right back to the previous Control panel - always use the [OK tick] boxes… you end up then choosing the FTP icon and the webcam option for uploading or renaming a file from in there - you set the upload times from in there.
Give us a copy of that page too, assuming you have the internet switch turned on in the FTP and Connections tab and have all the upload and server details entered correctly in there.
I hope I haven’t missed a step out, I apologise if i am assuming certain things or am boring you with details you already have gone through.
Screen dumps probably need to be cropped and saved as png for clarity. gif and jpg are ok also.
I don’t know if this will help, but I have two Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 cameras, and I simply could NOT get the second one recognised by the computer or the software. I then put the second webcam (which comes through 3 x 16’ Active USB extender cables) through a powered 4-port USB hub and it picked it up straight away!
It would be better if you were to be running the latest Version of WD (full install)…WD now at ver 1037i build 16 and webcamcapture ver 7.4…there have been many changes/improvements in the interim between your setup and the latest versions
Can someone tell me how I go about getting the latest version of these 2 programs? Is it a free upgrade or do I have to pay the full price again, or what? I want to get them, but need to know where and how I go about doing it…
Hello Ron… the upgrades are continuous and free…Brian does a great job keeping the program current. Open Weather Display and click on Help, go down to "Visit the Weather Display download page to check for a new version and click on that…it will take you the download page where you will select "Main Weather Display install file…the current version showling is 24 March 2008.
Make sure you close Weather Display completely before upgrading.
