Replacement temp/humidity sensor for OS WMR928

Hello

Hope someone can help me with my OS WMR928

something has managed to chew through the cable that goes from my temp/humidity sensor to the solar transmitter. I’m assuming I need to get a new sensor and plug it in to the existing solar transmitter. However a quick search suggests that the temp/hum sensor (THGR918?) is discontinued and I can’t find one anywhere.

does anyone know of a suitable compatible replacement?

many thanks

Why don’t you strip back the cable on either side of the break. All the wires are colour coded, so, if you strip back the insulation and connect the wires like to like, it should work! If it does then you would need to insulate & waterproof the joints.

thanks for that suggestion - it’s worth a go anyway.

let’s see how I get on…

My rain gauge had a similar problem and I cut the cable back and crimped on a new RJ45 plug so the waterproof seal was intact - a bit more hassle but it is still working two years later. Don’t throw away the old cable end and plug until you have a record of the colour wires from the old plug! amazon have some reasonably priced crimping tools and plugs if you want to give it a try, check the reviews on the crimping tools to choose on that suits you. good luck
Steve.

I can get my hands on some THGN928N if you can

Same happened to mine when i was trimming the grass. Cut off the old wire, put on a new connecter and all was well. Ambient have these sensors in stock, but will only supply to the USA. If you know of someone over there who could re post it then you could have a spare at least. There are some work arounds but trimming back the wire is the easiest.

Best wishes

Mike
