recording weather station, which to get?

I would like to place a recording type weather station at my summer cabin which has no 110 v electricity. I will be installing a 12 v system for room lighting so will have a good 12 v source (1055 amp gel cells) with solar panel charging. the reason for the station is to investigate the potential for a wind generator , particularly for the winter months as there are, on a clear day, only 3 hours of unfiltered sunlight hitting the solar panel location.

I am interested in comments on a modest priced station that has recording capabilities for sunlight and wind speed, that can hold up to 4 months data without downloading? or does one even exist ?

thanks for any comments

Eric.

If data capture at 2 hour intervals is good enough then a Davis Vantage Pro with weatherlink data logger would do it, 210 days by my quick calculation. You would need to use a computer laptop to download the data from the data logger. www.davisnet.com I’m sure there are professional stations too, but they are in a whole other price range.

Thanks Niko, I have sent Davis an email re power requirements etc. for the PV pro.

No problem with the laptop, I have a couple.

One quick question, what does “another happy WD user” mean?

cheers, Eric

WD is short for weather display, see here:
http://www.weather-display.com

for the software, weather display

There’s a limit to the number of characters and I don’t have enough left to spell it out

Another happy Weather-Display user

chris has increased that limit now a bit i think

I made my station descriptions into hyperlinks and the html burned up all my characters, I think I have 10 left :frowning:
