Real time wind speed and direction

Yes… I clicked the tick for that and USB. I don’t have any other equipment. Just the Wind Instrument and WDL. I did do a search and found something you had posted awhile back when setting up your lightning detector. The i-button thing that searches for connected devices doesn’t see anything either. I also found some associated software for AAG devices and I’ll have to try those when I get home today.

I think my first problem is that Windows needs to see this device correctly.

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

Have you installed the 1-wire software?

-Bob

Just what I was in the middle of posting Bob :D, have you downloaded the drivers for the USB connector?

See the link & instructions here: http://www.hobby-boards.com/catalog/howto_adaptors.php?referer=product_info.php?products_id=1503

I have mine plugged into a USB hub and in the Device Manager it tells me that that is running on Com Port 4 but it shows in the Device Manager on it’s own as “1 Wire Device”.

In Weather Display, as you don’t have any other type of weather station then you need to go into:
Control Panel; Station type & settings; Dallas/AAG 1 Wire and tick “Dallas/AAG 1 Wire version 3” and “2 poll windspeed”, I think, not sure if its the 1,2 or 4 poll that you need.
This tells WD what station you are using.

Once you’ve set your Com Port then go into: Control Panel; Dallas 1 Wire; and click on the “Save/Reset” button and see if anything appears in the window on the right. If it’s seeing the device then it will assign a ROM I/D to the speed, direction & temperature sensors. Once this is done they should appear in the boxes in the bottom left of the screen and WD should start registering the readings.

I really apologize for being so dense about this. I

I’m just wondering after reading the thread… do you have (WD) Weather Display running? All you mention is WDL (Weather Display Live). You need WD to generate the file for WDL to read. If you already know that, I apologize.

Sorry… that’s my bad… I thought WDL was weather display. I have way too much to learn around here.

The good news is it WORKS!!! Amazing what a driver can do. Once that was installed everything detected except for the anemometer. I copied that device ID and pasted it in place and all is well.

Thanks again for the help and now… I get to go mount it on a 30’ pole.
