Rain with WLL

I have noticed this MANY times since going to WLL

It happened just now:

I had to reboot the mac. It was NOT raining but was earlier. The reboot took 2 mins max

When I started WD the monthly and rain data were not accurate. It is as if they added the earlier rainfall

Again it was not raining when this happened and the reboot and relaunch of WD was quick.

Thoughts?

It happened again last night/this am

Power went out about 10pm and came back at 5am

When I restarted WD obviously it pulled the missing data from WLL. However, WD/WLL showed more rain than the VP console (which I believe is right)

Would this be a WLL issue to pursue with Davis or how WD reads it in?

This occurs almost every time that while WD is down and either it rained earlier rained during the downtime.

Looking at the log file viewer in WD (attached) the rain value changed to the higher amount at the time WD restarted and was pulling the data (approx 515am). There was no rain during this time

Hey Brian… It happened again

We got a quick rain burst at 12:45pm today - very brief and only accumulated .02

No rain since

At 1400 I closed all apps and rebooted my mac. When I came back up and restarted WD there was an extra .03 in the total rain for the year (assuming rounding compared to Davis console of .02)

Weatherlink data shows the rain at 12:45 and nothing since. WD log file shows the correct amount but then the extra rain right at 12:45 when it occured

So WD is somehow adding the earlier rain to the current total. I hope that makes sense.

what might be happening is that WD is pulling in and using the history data prior to when it was last running and so counting the rain 2x
maybe you can see if that is what is happening?

do make sure you have the time zone (hours) and lat/long set correct in the sun moon rise/set
as that is how WD tries to work out the GMT time
needed to work out when to request data history from

Still not exactly sure what you meant. WD is only down for a few mins while I reboot the mac.

Do you mean when I launch WD how far back does the data import go? If that is the case, I don’t know. But I suspect quick because the window disappears quick

It happened yet again. I had to reboot my mac. Mac was down 5 mins max.

When it came back and I launched WD, the yearly rain was off again. It had rained earlier this morning. The discrepancy is I believe the amount of the daily rain (approx). Today we got .06 about 4am. When WD came back up the difference between WD and WLL was .07 (assuming rounding).

This only happens when there has been rain earlier. Otherwise when I shutdown WD and restart it works fine.

Im your other post you suggested checking lat/long and TZ. Lat/long appear correct. Not sure where in WD to check TZ

Program event log is clean.

In WLL the data shows zero rain since many hours ago, definitely NOT within the few mins of rebooting

try this as a test (next time you had rain earlier in the day that WD recorded when it was running)
in control panel, data logger, turn off the switch there

then exit WD for a few minutes
then restart
and see if the rain recorded earlier is added again when it should not be

Ok… got rain not too long ago… approx 20 mins ago… None since then. At 17:05 (last rain time) the amount received was .01

I went into data logger and shut it off and exited WD at 18:09. Yearly rain was 32.40"

I relaunched WD at 18:16

Yearly rain was now and still 32.40

I went ahead and put the logger back on for now
