QUESTION: Ecowitt-API and PWS_Dashboard

@ALL

Ecowitt stations currently use either a weather-program or “custom upload” to get the weather-data into PWS_Dashboard.

I am currently testing the “new” Ecowitt-API => Ecowitt API DOC

I just wonder, is anybody interested to use this API and what would be the advantage compared to the custom upload?

For example:
There are less then a dozen Ambient-API users of the dashboard who asked questions or needed support.
The Ambient-API is supported since the first releases as there was no "custom upload’ available
And nobody asked to support the relative new ambient “Custom upload”

Regards,
Wim

As you I am sure are aware CumulusMX now can use the Ecowitt API. If my CMX goes down and as long as the Ecowitt Gateway is still uploading then when CMX is restarted it can catch up.

Now PWS_Dashboard (in my case) gets its history from Wunderground. So any catch up is done from there.

So would the only use for the Ecowitt API be if you were not using Wunderground for history or future proofing in case Wunderground ceased to be!

I would not choose to use the API for the dashboard over the current method. I’d rather deliver my data to my server, vs api calls from a server in another country.

Sorry I’m late to the party!

I have the API up and running on CMX etc and see no real difference to data flow.

Happy to test any new functions you are planning. - I have the GW1000.

Thanks
Paul
