every since the begining of using WD about 2 years ago I’ve never been able to let windows power settings to allow my monitor to go into stand-by i set it for 10 mins and it’ll cut off ever now and again but something causes it to turn back on…i close out WD and all is well is there a setting I’m missing that will allow screensaver and power options to put my monitor into standby may save me a lil money on power bill and will definitely give my monitor a longer life…TIA
I’ve noticed the same thing for quite some time on my dedicated WD machine. I have mine set to a blank screen after 5 minutes and with monitors to standby after 10 minutes like you. It varies but sometimes they will not go to blank screens, other times they will, and never go to standby. I’ve taken to turning them off because I may not look at WD on that machine for days because of WD’s stability for me.

I could be wrong and probably am, but I think it could be the movie maker kicking in to make the 10 minute by ten second video.
I have my monitor power set to black screen after 5 minutes, and no screen saver used, and it works fine.
Don’t make the 10 minute movie in my case. Have you tried setting the standby setting?

Don’t have the problem on mine - but then when I walk away from the PC, I switch the monitor off at the switch. That would solve your problem, and save you even more power, by not leaving it in standby
Cheers
if i wanted to turn the monitor off i would do that but that’s not what i want…i use the computer for my media center as well so i don’t want to have to get up out of my nice comfortable recliner to switch on the monitor so i can view the settings i don’t have to get up and turn my plasma on(dual display video card) maybe I’m just lazy or maybe things should work like they are supposed to…or maybe you could come by and switch it on and off when i need it.TIA
So you don’t really know if the problem is the same or are you saying it works but you decide to turn off the monitor?

i went into my power options on the PC and changed them from 10 mins to 5 mins and it went to stand by 5 mins later and never came back on until i moved the mouse like is supposed to then i changed it back to 20 mins and it has worked correctly every since…i guess i just needed to reset the power options…all is working well now and no one has to come over and switch my monitor on and off for me.
...all is working well now and no one has to come over and switch my monitor on and off for me.
…and I was on my way too!
Apologies for stating the obvious, but sometimes living without the convenience isn’t too bad once you get used to it. However if you have a Media Centre on that PC I can now see your frustration!
Cheers
I did the same and had the same results. Thanks for finding that!!
