Problem with my webpage ***FIXED***

Hi,
I had problem with my computer and need to reset wd, all is fine except my webpage which displays chaotic characters…check it out at http://www.exometeofraiture.net/page3/TinlotFraiture4557B.htm
Manually update is ok but automatic not…(main internet switch on, connections on,…)
Help required!
Thanks a lot
Fred

i just see a half uploaded web cam image
no chaotic characters

indeed, half webcam image on IE but chaos on Mozilla.

In my Firefox the only thing I see amiss is a bunch of these in the top table…

-Bob

it seems to work fine now…cannot understand what happened, erratic behaviour!

Is your web server space full possibly? I see all sorts of wierdness with my webpage anytime mine gets full.

I’m nearly full but checked it and enough place…Strange…
WD is great but far too complicated and when a problem occurs, that’s nor an easy task to fix!
Fred

who said the problem is to do with WD?

Just now looked at your site with IE7. And it looks just fine to me.
I will note that you have a lot going on that one page, and possibly if you have any hiccup when FTPing to your site, something doesn’t complete the upload.

I’m with Brian, probably not a WD issue per say, it may be the timing you have set for it all to upload.

Sorry, don’t wanna offend Brian for the great job he does! You are both right guys, not a WD issue, I just checked all options and found animatedwebcam still activated (I used a too old registery keys backup!) which overpassed my volume account on my hosting disk.         #-o #-o #-o #-o
Thanks and sorry for the waste of time…
Fred

Sorry guys but the same problem today with 10MB of free space??? :frowning:

Fred,

Have you checked your FTP log for any possible issues?

Have you looked at the file locally, from your webfiles folder, and see if the issues are there or are they only after it has been uploaded?

-Bob

Bob,
Locally, the files are ok…and nothing special in the FTP log… #-o
Fred

If the files are OK locally but mucked on your server then I would recommend trying to contact your Host and see if they can see any issues with your account.

We recently saw an issue with a host where the files worked exactly as they should when uploaded to one host but not to another, sadly the host refuses to acknowledge any problem for that user :frowning:

-Bob

It looks to me that what’s happening right now is that there is a JPEG image file, which is actually named as TinlotFraiture4557B.htm. So the host is returning this JPEG image with a MIME type of text/html. IE (as is normal) ignores the MIME type and tries to guess the file type, works out it’s a JPEG and displays it. Firefox stick with the MIME type and so displays it as rubbish.

The question is - how is a JPEG file ending up on the server as an .htm one?

That could be a result of a timing/naming issue with WD FTP, there have been other issues of this nature when there is a naming conflict…

Possibly posting your Full FTP log for a full upload when the issue occurs may provide some hints…

-Bob

Hi,
I think Phil points something interesting…I will try to ananlyse my full FTP log
It works fine again, I think the isssue is related to the webcam. The files are right updated when the webcam is shut down during the night.
Fred

Hi everybody,
The problem’s still there…The webpage is ok during night time but not in daytime. Any other ideas to help me?
Thanks,
Fred

post the ftplogfull.txt file when there is a problem occuring, again

Hi Windy,
Here is in attachment a part of my log, I hope you’ll can see what’s wrong in it!
Many thanks in advance
Fred
