My web page’s forecast is basically blank except it does show the time and date when the forecast was created. It seems to be up to date. I have checked with my internet host and they claim all is well. The rest of my page downloads normally including warnings. Now if I turn the overides switch to “off”, I get a report on the web site that includes a NOAA report for current conditions in all of California. I am using tgftp and the zone I want is caz069. Perhaps someone would try that and see what you get so I can try to isolate the problem.
I’m having the exact same problem. At first, the forecasts weren’t updating (just kept displaying the old one from Jan 22). I changed the ftp server address (now “tgftp.nws.noaa.gov”) and started getting updated NOAA reports again. Now they don’t show up on the web page (override on/off has no affect on this for me). I’m using wxlocal.html with few changes but it has always worked.
Does any one know if the format of the 5-day forecast file changed?
Mine gets overwritten each time, I no longer have an old one from before the address change. If true, this may explain why the tag names don’t work (i.e., “%5dayforecastdayday1%”).
Update:
All is back to normal EXCEPT, the 1st day of the 5-day forecast (i.e. “Today” or “Tonight”) is not bold, not all caps and not on a line by itself like it used to be, and like all the other days are. Forecast now starts with a line that has 3 dashes (—). So, now it looks like this:
—
Tonight Mostly Cloudy…
But it used to look like this: TONIGHT
Mostly Coudy…
Probably due to another change in the format, but I can live with this – just wanted you to know.
Another Update:
Nevermind all that – after my web site updated a 2nd time, it all looks right again – I really should be more patient, huh?
No problem downloading correct ftp file (in this case COZ040.txt), and WD five day forecast is pointed to that file, but format has changed so that WD can’t read the 5 day forecast. Here’s what I’m getting from the ftp site. It has the right info in it, but for more locations than before January 21st or so format. All available files in the directory have exactly the same format. I’m just interested in the Northeast Colorado/Denver info… Any suggestions?
I think you’re looking in the wrong place. Try: data/forecasts/zone/co for the directory in WD, then coz050.txt. That will get you to the zone forecast rather than the cities forecasts.
Had tried that earlier. (Actually COZ040.txt for the data I want; COZ050.txt doesn’t work either). 5 day forecast window shows location across the top, but no data…

I haven’t made myself clear. Yes, I get the same data you show, no problem. I’m not saying there is a problem with the NOAA weather web site. What doesn’t work is displaying that data in the WD 5 day forecast window as set up in the “NOAA forecast download” page under FTP/Internet setup. The format sent by NOAA changed in late January and the WD 5 day forecast window has not worked since. That’s why I’ve been trying several of the NOAA pages to see if one of the formats works. So far, none work in displaying the 5 day forcast data in the WD 5 day forecase window.
Running 10.37d. Yes, I know there have been prior postings that the problem was fixed, but I don’t see it as being fixed. I’ve attached two screen shots so you can see what I see.
Makes no difference, I tried it both ways. The correct current file is downloaded as scheduled with no problem. For some reason WD can’t read the file and show the data in the WD 5 day forecast window. Any other thoughts?
I also would check and make sure the downloaded file is actually going to your main directory and not somewhere else as the file you have selected to use appears to indicate you are downloading to the main directory.
Maybe change the download to somewhere else like metars or download and then after it is downloaded set the file to use to the new location…
My 2 cents Do a search for coz040.txt and see if it is in the same file that the 5-day points to. (C:\Program File\wdisplay\downloads\coz040) or something like that. You files do not match.
The file is where it is supposed to be. There is only one file, no duplicates, and all in the main WD directory where the 5 day forecast setting is pointing. Also, I had previously tried the USE NWS setting with no change.
As a last resort, I uninstalled WD and reinstalled. Whatever that did fixed the problem. All the settings after reinstall are exactly the same as before, but now it works. Obviously something was “stuck” somewhere, and now isn’t, but i have no clue as to what that might have been. I’ve been screwing around with this for a week.
I appreciate all the help, even though I don’t think we’ve really learned anything in the process! As I noted earlier, there were times at which I would get the first line of the forecast file, indicating for sure that WD was pointed to the right file. Even the download time showed correctly. All that didn’t show was the weather data, and now that’s back.
