Potential mail outage

The service I’ve been using to send forum emails has started to make a monthly charge. It was previously a free service for low volumes of emails and the forum didn’t break their limits so I guess they no longer want to provide a free service. That’s fine…they’re in business to make money so I’m grateful to them for providing a free service whilst they did.

So I’m going to try an alternative approach to sending emails which I think should work. However, I won’t know for sure until I test it out. I’ll be making the change this morning (Saturday 23rd Jan - UK time) and will carry out initial testing when I’ve made the change. If it seems to be working I’ll leave the system change in place. If you get regular emails from the forum can you please look out for them. If they don’t appear (and you’re sure you should have got an email) please post a message in Chatter and I’ll try to find out what’s gone wrong.

Thanks,
Chris

My first attempt didn’t work but I’ve implemented another method now which seems to be working…it can send me emails which is a good start. We’re now live with the alternative solution so hopefully it will work for everyone else too.

I think the new route seems to be working. There is one change that some of you may need to be aware of. Messages will now come from [email protected] (it used to be [email protected]) so if you added the old address to a spam whitelist you might like to do the same with the new address.
