Peet Ultimeter 2000 not working

Hi
what support channels have you been using?
There is a special rain debug mode you can set WD into for the ultimeter
i am not at home just at the moment, but will post more details about that in next 24 hours or so…

also though make sure you do not have ticked to use any 1 wire settings in the com port setup

also, email me your settings files, wdisplay.ini from where WD installed (all though that depends on which version of WD you are using), and the settings file wdisplayftp.reg, after going action, back up registry entry now (zip the files first)

I sent multiple e-mails to [email protected], as well as a screen shot of my setup at the request of the addressee. Three followups were sent, each of which received no reply. The last message I sent was to another address on the web site, and the reply was: I can’t support Weather Display because I didn’t write it. I can support Weather Display Live as I am the author - are you having a problem with that?

So I’m at a loss as to where to turn to resolve the problem. As you can guess I’m a bit frustrated as this has been going on for over a month with little help in where to look and what to do.

What is your e-mail address, and what files do you need? I can take care of that first thing Monday morning.

Hi
my email address is
[email protected]
to send those settings files
what is your email address?
i will look back to see if I missed your emails (maybe I did not get them, or maybe you did not get my replies (more likely), for what ever reason (blocked, etc)

to put WD into the special rain debug mode for the ultimeter
create a file where you have WD installed called
ws2000on.txt
and then after the next minute, check under view, ws2010/ws2500 data setup and let me know what is showing there (and then after rain , what is showing there)

@weather-display.com is in the “safe domain” list for my domain, so there is no reason to suspect it would be blocked. My address is [email protected], or [email protected].

I posted the requested information at http://www.limaweather.com/test/ScreenCap07302006_0812.pdf

I also E-mailed it to the same address I’ve been sending to so you can check your spam filter for false positives. No rain is predicted for today, so I guess we’ll have to wait. If there is nothing by Monday afternoon I’ll drop a couple 10ths into the rain gauge to get a reading.

hi
i have sent you a reply
just copy/paste the info from that setup screen you took a screen shot of
we need rain to see what is happening
i also need your settings file wdisplay.ini from where you have wd installed, as well

I’ve not been ignoring you, Windy. I’m just waiting for it to rain so I can get a reading. It’s been dry for three days. Forecast for tonight is Low 74, 50% chance of precipitation, so I’ll know more tomorrow.

Brian,

I sent in E-mail the screen capture you wanted to see as rain was coming in, the shot of what the main screen is reporting, and the wdisplay.ini.

I had to rename the wdisplay.ini file as our mail server would not allow me to send it to you as an .ini.

Also, I couldn’t get the system to allow me to Copy/Paste from the ws2010/ws2500 data setup. I can highlight, but a right-click does not allow me to copy it. However, if I’m in something else, like the wdisplay.ini file, I can highlight and copy that.

Sorry for the delay, I had to wait till we had something to report.

Looking forward to getting this problem solved.

The data that is in the screen. Should I see the totals change as rain comes down and is detected?

Does someone have a screen shot of their Ultimeter 2000 settings using a heated rain gauge?

My setting was set to long data length. I changed it to medium to see if it makes any difference. Does the program have to stopped and restarted, or does the computer need a reboot?

Hi
is the rain number changing at all in that debug screen?
if not, then wd will need to use the rain from a different
part of the logging data try ticking , long data length.,.,.?
Cheers
Brian

the next thing to do, is to get all the raw data, so we can
see where the rain IS changing in the data, as it looks to
be not changing where I am expecting it (some hardware
thing) or, do you see the numbers changing in that ws2010
screen at all?

Although the Ultimeter 2000 is showing rain measurements, the Wdisplay is not showing any changes at all. See the mainscreen.jpg image I’ve attached.

do you have the 0.1 or 0.01 inch rain gauge setting set correctly?
try so, go to setup, advanced /misc, and tick, log the raw data
then a file called rawultimeterdata.txt is produced where wd
is installed when its raining, make a copy of that file, and
then after rain is recorded on the staton, make another
copy, and then email me them both Cheers Brian

Attached is the way the I have it set up after our last discussion. I’ve not seen any FAQ or information on what the setup is recommended to be. Do you have any users that are also using a Peet Bros system with Wdisplay that would, perhaps, share a screen shot? I hate to “guess” at what the settings should be.

Something that may be tied into this, if I click on the “Rain Today” in the lower left corner, and correct an entry, should it not correct the entry for the day and show up in all subsequent images and data displays?

Fred

Fredy - I also have an ultimeter 2000. I notice your configuration has 0.1 rain gauge and *10 both checked. What is the diameter of the rain gauge attached? If it is the large (approx 10 inch diameter) black one, you should have .01 gauge selected, and *10 unselected. I also have selected for my ultimeter 2000: long data length (you may need to experiment for this), and I have set mine to “data logging mode” (press and hold the “-o-” and windspeed keys together for 3 seconds to select this mode)

Here’s a screenshot of my configuration screen:

Here is the data after a small amount of rain. The front of the Peet Bros Ultimeter 2000 says 0.03 for rain. More rain is expected later tonight.

No rain registered on the Weather Display screen, although the Peet Bros indicates .03.

Also attached is what Hyperterm shows is coming out of the Peet Bros. From this can you confirm how weather display needs to be sent to receive the data?

I’ve got the smaller “heated” rain detector. It’s about 6" high, 4" across.

I’ll try setting it up for long data length and see what I get.

LATER… Although I’m seeing some readings on the screen for Weather Display, (with the exception of rainfall), here is how all the data to the web site looks like.

Brian,

Here are two screen shots and what the data looks like after someone in the forum said to try changing to long data length.

Still, it doesn’t show any rain.

Note that while we seem to get temp, humidity, wind, etc … no rain is detected. Further, as shown in the previous post, although we have data coming in, the images being produced show zero data processing.

http://www.vobbe.net/ftp/wdisplay/WeatherDisplay.pdf

the rawultimeterdata.txt shows that you actualy have the ultimeter in complete record mode instead of data logging mode, and so you need to set WD to use that in the weather station type setup, or change the station to send in data logging mode

I wonder if my old thread is related http://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/11906

Complete record mode
Long dat length - checked
.01 - checked
*10 - checked

but
in Offset 158 5% for the rainfall

cheers

I’ve got both Ultimeter and Wdisplay set to complete record mode, per a suggestion posted in the forum.

However it doesn’t seem that Wdisplay is picking up any of the data. Note the link provided below. You’ll see that we come up to the 5th of this month and now NO data is being recognized by Wdisplay.

http://limaweather.com/data/monthtodate.gif

As you saw in the data captures I sent, the computer is getting the data from the Ultimeter. It stopped processing rain a couple months ago, now it’s not processing any data.

Any suggestions on where to start? I would really like to get this weather station back on line.

Hi
it looks like you actualy have the ultimeter set in comlete
record mode and so you need to select that in WD in the
weather station type setup and so that will be what the
problem is Cheers Brian

these suggestions you keep refering to are mine

i will take a close look at the detailed raw data you sent me and look for where the rain is being stored in the data and how best to handle it

what i would do at this stage is set the station to data logging mode and set WD to not use complete record mode, and tick, long data length

note that there are people who do have the rain working correct with a ultimeter
but there are lots of different cobinations of data outputs with the ultimeter, and there is lots of different rain gauge types (tip sizes) and where the rain data is stored in the data also varies alot,so its not easy , but with effort we will get there

its bed time here though in this part of the world, tomorrow is another day

Understood. The problem is that with so many options, and different pieces of equipment and configurations, it’s difficult to even have a thought as to where to start.

Keep in mind that while I did send you that capture of data, that was from an earlier exchange where we were in the “short” data length. This is why I made the comment about an FAQ or sharing another user’s configuration. It would help to have a starting position.

Since our exchanges started we’ve changed the data length several times.

After all the changes, here is where I stand.

  • Rain gauge is a ultimeter pro rain gauge. Master unit is an Ultimeter 2000
  • Ultimeter 2000 is set to “long data length”.
  • “Long data length” is ticked.
  • “I have a rain gauge” is ticked.
  • “I have a humidity sensor” is ticked
  • “0.01 in rain gauge” is ticked.
  • No other items are ticked.
  • Using Hyperterm I’m able to verify that the data is coming into the computer on COM 1.
  • Using Hyperterm I’m able to verify that the data is coming into the computer on COM 1.

The problem originally started about 50 days ago when the rain function stopped recording. By recording I mean that the Ultimeter 2000 was recording weather data, but nothing was showing up in Weather Display.

However, for the last few days NOTHING is recording, (as you can see from the image file posted). Data will come up on the main display window, but it doesn’t match the Ultimeter. For example, this morning at 5:00AM, when it was 64f outside the Window said 84f.

Here is what the Ultimeter is sending to the computer right now.

Hi
what i need is the rawultimeterdata.txt
its in a format that i can plug straight into the program to test/check things
before and after rain
you did email me that, but the problem is, you had 2 different data lengths…i need them both (before and after) to be the same data length/type
thanks

For what its worth I have my 2000 operating in complete record mode. Data to WD and two weather pictures.

In my case the data logging gave me some problems, you will need to play with the different settings. I had to go through the complete set up a couple of times before it worked
