Optimising WD for PWS Dashboard

Hi all, I noticed that Weather Display is putting a strain on my webserver, and my webmaster is getting shirty about it. I wonder if anyone has a guide to optimal settings for FTP upload? What I need to upload what I can bin etc. I worked out I can probably get away with updating most things every 5/10 minutes except the client raw and webcam.

my webserver is uploading to https://mm0zif.radio/current/WX/ although most access the data via MM0ZIF-WX: Local weather in Irvine, North Ayrshire ‣ MM0ZIF Amateur Radio and Weather Station.

The PWS_Dashboard only needs

  1. clientraw.txt every 2 → 5 minutes.
  2. webcam-image every ? minutes

There seems to be no other FTP-uploaded files in use by the dashboard scripts.

You are also using ecowitt/ecco_lcl.arr .
But that file is not used since July (Age 44 days 21 hours 56 minutes 59 seconds)
And that uses HTTP-upload, not FTP.

You are not using a cron-job so that does not add load either.

What other “Dashboard” files are you uploading and with what frequency?

Wim

I did visit your website twice with a few minutes between the visits.

Your website is unresponsive.
It took 46 seconds to get an answer but the processing on the server took only 0.9 second.

_test.php (24): Max memory used: 2 mb(2097152 bytes). Duration: 0.90948 seconds. PHP_version: 7.4.33

See attached screenshot:

Seems the webserver is to busy to service a normal https request

I’ve asked the Server hosts to look into what the heck is going on, I’ve been questioning why things are so slow on their hosting  will update as I find out more.
