Whilst tidying up the WeatherWiki I’ve re-discovered numerous references to old weather station types, e.g. the WMR100/200/900/918, LaCrosse 2010, WS2310, Rainwise WS2000, and numerous others. I wondered how many older stations of this kind of age (pre-2010 I’m guessing) are still in use? If you’re still using a station that pre-dates 2010, post a quick message here to say what it is and when, approximately, it was installed.
Still using WMR200 purchased 2015. . . I know it’s not pre-2010 but you did mention it!
And you can still buy spares. . .
I sit corrected. I assumed it was much older.
I’m using a WS-2080 Fine Offset from 2007 … well, the sensor array from it anyway.
**** Correction … I found the receipt in the box for this weather station. I purchased & installed it in 2010 not 2007. My bad. ****
Getting super forgetful as I age disgracefully.
Chris - not sure this counts but I’m still using my original VP2 console from 2005. While Davis still sells the console, mine is running the original firmware, which technically makes it old! Back then, in order to upgrade the firmware, you had to buy (or rent) a piece of hardware from Davis to plug into the console to do the upgrade or mail them the console. I never did either.
Hi Chris,
I’m surviving on ancient LaCrosse machines.
The oldest 2 are pre-2003, both WS-2310’s. The other 2 are WS-2315’s, both purchased in 2006.
Both are old, and just keep on running. I have most of my issues with heat (up to 120F / 49C) and the desert dust storms, which affect the Anemometer. 2 of the run 24/7, 1 runs as needed on the farm, and i sits on the shelf, looking pretty - it’s wireless connect to the T/H unit doesn’t work any more.

WMR88 Since 2010
Anemometer and base station are still the original (although the baring is pretty shot in the anemometer - job for this weekend?)
Just ordered replacement Temp sensor. Rain gauge was replaced last year.
Still happy but thinking might be time to look for something newer… any suggestions?
Still using a Heath-kit ID-5001 since about 1988. state d using with Weather display some where round 2012.
There are some old stations around but I suspect you’re using the oldest one!
great to see old stations still chugging along
re replacements
the Ecowitt.com weather stations seem to be good (e.g the GW1000/2000 series)…you get cloud data even…and WD is compatible
I have WMR 968 (2007) still in use, the full setup although I’m not logging data from it, its merely a reference station and a perch for the birds so they don’t perch on the davis anny, works a treat
Original (pre-serial number motherboard) Texas Weather Instruments WR-25 First online in 2000, CPU upgrade to 2.000 in 2004. Now on third Anemometer weather vane and second outdoor temp humidity. Third tipping bucket rain guage.

Sadly, TWI folded a few years back - they made their stations so well nobody ever replaced them - and their customer service was beyond excellent if you ever did have a problem.
I remember an earlier discussion. . . http://discourse.weather-watch.com/p/501472
Ha ha, yeah, that’s the one, was the best thing i did leaving the OS station up, especially the anny, it takes a lot of strain off of the Davis anny thus lasting longer, in theory…
I’m still using a WMR 928 and have been since 2004. It has, however gone through several guises with replacements consoles, rain gauges,temp/hum sensors, anemometers and transmitters over the years, so isnt the original WMR 928. I havent used the Temp/Hum sensor that originally came with the station for many years, using other OS Temp/Hum sensors that are compatible with the console.
I did have cabled Davis for a time (bought 2nd hand), but re-sold it as couldn’t run the cable as I wanted to.
Often looked at replacing, buying a more up to date station over the past 10 years or so, but just havent got round to it !!
TrevP
AKA Triggers Broom I think only parts of mine that are original are at least 1 transmitter and console
I just retired a Dallas 1-wire station V3 from Mexico (AAG). I can’t remember when it was put into service, likely around 2003.
I’ve just replaced with an Ecowitt station - which I’ve run for about 5 months - so far I’m quite pleased!
Weather Display keeps on working! Why would anyone use anything else!
Still using VP console/station from 2004. probably original firmware as (someone else said) you had to get a dongle to upgrade it. Only last year changed from battery to AC for the console.
Bought solar sensors around 2010.
i’m using a VP2 since 2012 without a issue
My VP1+ is from 2004, had to replace anemometer twice since, and TH outdoor sensor twice, but otherwise, working just fine.
