Odd wind recording issue with WLL

I have been using WeatherLink Live to feed data to WD for a few weeks now and I have noticed something peculiar with the wind data. It seems that whenever there is a new high wind speed for the day, that value gets “stuck” in WD. It eventually clears and the wind data begins displaying correctly again, but it can take several minutes. The wind direction and other data continues to update just fine.

I have checked the packets being parsed in crondaviswll.exe and can see that all is correct, with wind speeds updating every 2 seconds or so (matching the values in WeatherLink). It is only within WD that the wind speed is stuck.

do you mean the maximum gust today?

I’m referring to the current wind speed, not the gust speed. This includes the wind dial readout on the main display. It displays the same wind reading for up to several minutes, despite new readings being parsed correctly by crondaviswll.

i will do some testing and investigation with my WLL to see if I can duplicate etc

This can also happen with the gust too, i tend to find it happens worse after a reboot of the WLL.
Its been a couple of weeks since i last rebooted the WLL and i have not noticed any issues for a while.

I have included 2 images and this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YowAKO8EMrw

Thanks

Thanks for the screenshots and video, Bashy. This is exactly what I am experiencing.

Heres another example

Hi Brian, im not thread bumping on purpose, just updating findings, I just noticed yesterday that this is actually causing WD to miss speeds so its not just a graph issue, i live in small’ish village and at around 5:45pm someone on fb mentioned that the village had hit 54mph a few minutes ago, where mine was only 45mph (i disputed their findings) but at that time the wind issue occured again on the graph, I didnt notice it at the time.

Ive enclosed it for visual reference, i included the other grpah cause i thought those temp drops were impressive lol

are you using a WLL?

Hi Brian, yes I am using WLL as mentioned in reply #4
Perhaps have a look to see if adding an offset is anything to do with the issue, i have a sneaking suspicion or at the very least, it stalls at the value before the offset is applied. Hope that helps.

this should be fixed now in the latest update #-o

Brilliant, thank you Brian, will grab it when I get home

what was happening is that WD was checking the max gust value in last 10 minutes as reported by WLL
and if that was higher than max gust for the day then WD was setting the gust speed to that value…instead of the max gust for the day
so the max gust line on the graph was being pegged at the max gust for the last 10 minutes as reported by WLL
in theory though that should mean, if that is a rolling last 10 minutes gust from WLL, then WD was not missing out on a max speed while this bug was there

Thank you for explaining, I was going to ask but I thought it might have been rude, it’s nicento know what was going on, thanks again for sorting it

Agreed! Thank you so much for looking into this and finding the issue and getting a fix so quickly!

I just happened upon a new issue, possibly with this latest update. The time for today’s max gust is stuck. WD is accurately tracking the max gust, but for some reason, the time of the max gust has stayed at 10:52 AM. It was even showing 10:52 AM prior to it being 10:52 AM today.

The graphs are correct, and the value of the max gust is correct, it is just the time that is wrong.

That’s a strange one, I am not seeing that with mine, have ya tried restarting WD?

Yep. Tried restarting WD, and rebooting my machine. Still showing 10:52 AM.

when the current speed goes higher than 16mph, the time and value should show that, yes?

Each new high gust is recorded, but the time of the gust remains at 10:52.

For example, it went from 5 mph, to 11, to 16, to now 17.3 mph, but the time still shows 10:52.
