Nobody warned me about spiders !

Bloody typical…we have heavy thunderstorms over night with significant heavy rain obseerved, through window with eyes. Whats does VP tell me? .01 of an inch! Now I know it takes a lot of rain to make an inch but when there are puddles on the drive way its not a hard job to imagine more than 100th of an inch has fallen.

So I opened up my rain bucket and what did I find. A spider with an abdomen the size of a large pea had wrapped his web all around my tipping device.

Following a swift eviction and removal of a number of dead animals, i taped up all the holes (cable entry points) to prevent a recurrance… At least my bucket was accessible by standing on a chair. I seem to remember seeing a picture where someone had mounted theirs on a chimney stack !!

An interesting feature of this site is the What was it like page. Get weather details for Weymouth & Portland for any date since 1 Jan 1927

Can associate with the ‘critter’ things. When I had my WMR968 system I had the temperature sensor out and away from the house and one night during the o’nite I saw that my temperature was in the mid-90’s, actual temp was like 60F. Then it would change dramtically back down to the normal again, then back up to 90’s. ??? When daylight came I went and inspected the sensor, taking it a part completely and sure enough, a new tennant had arrived trying to make a home. The eviction was a 10 1/2" boot, squashed the zillion legged critter.
Now that I have the Davis VP in a different location, so far so good…

that could be a good anti-theft tool for the weather station

The critter or the 10 1/2 boot?
