NOAA Warning

Will the NOAA Warning Section pick up all warnings…non-precip, tornado, severe thunderstorm, etc or do you have to download thos e first one by one…Also, I noticied occasionally my zone for warnings changes to an incorrect zone number even with the remind button checked. Has that happened to anyone?..Thanks…Joe

Hello Joe,

I have had NOAAEvent pick up RED FLAG Fire Warnings, Wind Advisories, Wind Alerts, Thunderstorm Warnings, FREEZE warnings. These all come from the one Zone File as far as I can tell.

I have never seen the zone file I had set change on its own however…

Thanks, Bob…appreciate your help…The reason why I mentioned the NOAA warning is that today I had correctly a Tampa Wind Warning for Port Charlotte and then a Miami Warning appeared using a Tampa heading…it was weird…so I noticed the zone changed from fl062 to fl065 which was still here but Miami appeared. Anyway, I’ll just have to check it for trends…Joe

Hi again Joe,

Even the NWS screws up occasionally LOL

If you see something odd I would look at the raw file in your WeatherDisplay directory and see what it says and then compare to the raw source…

Okay Bob…thanks again…I’ll do that! Joe

Joe, are you using my suggestion in the FAQ?

The NOAA warnings are anything which is provided as an advisory. Here’s a very very long list:

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/okx/Preparedness.html

Missing from this list (I’m sure there’s more) are Short Term Forecasts. These get issued “for weather trends during the next 1 to 6 hours. Normally issued only when precipitation or hazardous weather is occurring or expected in the next several hours.”

Thanks…CarterLake…did not catch your reply last night (went to bed)…I’ll look at the list and FAQ…Joe
