New VP2 Pro+ - Outside Temperature Sensor Problem?

In the last 10 days I have just replaced a LaCrosse 2010 with a Vantage Pro2+ and already I appear to be having a problem. I believe it to be the sensor in the ISS as the false reading is shown on both the console and WD via the Weather Envoy.

The outside temp. has on 2 occasions fallen to -56.7F, but it does not ‘flatline’ while the problem is present, it also shows temperature variations as can be seen in the attached image.

I have emailed tech support at Davis, but I have no response as yet.

Any ideas and do you agree it is the sensor itself?

Thanks, Bob.

The scale on the temp graph is way off. You have it displaying 13 to -67. It is all off scale.

Bob, just realized that the screen shot you posted was for the last three days. I just checked you web site and see this is not occurring on the main screen. No sure why the past days graph would have a different temp range.

Bob,

There have been some big problems with the new Davis temp/hum sensors. Many people at other forums (including myself) have shared the same problem. Mine would dip to -90F when the RH reached around 95%. My new sensor is scheduled to arrive from Davis on 8/22. I can’t wait to replace it.

Swing Davis an email and let them know the problem. They will ship you a replacement and you’ll need to ship the old one back.

Dave, thanks for the responses, but it’s nothing to do with the graphing, it’s a hardware issue.

Dendrite, Thanks you have confirmed my suspicions, I’ll wait a couple of days for a response to my email to Davis, then I’ll phone them.

Bob

I would call them first thing Monday morning rather than wait for an email response… I’ve had them not respond via email more than once in the past.

I would check the ISS, unplug sensors and replug a couple a times, and check that no moisture has got inside. Unit run on very low voltage 3 volts does not take much to be intermittant.

He can try it, but I’d bet the farm it’s a sensor problem. Davis released a new version of their temp/hum sensor recently and it seems there’s some kinks with it. Playing with the connections did nothing for me.

Dendrite,

you were spot on. I called Davis today and they immediately acknowledged the problem with the new outside temp/humidity sensor. They are sending out a new sensor by UPS and I should have it by the weekend.

Thanks to all that responded to this thread.

Bob.

UPDATE

It’s been about a week since I replaced the outside temperature and humidity sensor sent to me by Davis.
I am pleased to report, so far, that the problem has not occurred since the change.

Thank you to all :thumbleft: that responded and offered assistance.

Bob
