I am a new Davis Vantage Pro2 owner. I downloaded the trial of WD and really like it so far! It seems to have just about everything I would need to take advantage of the Vantage Pro’s capabilities.
One question came up when configuring the updates of Weather Underground. How the heck do I get it to update on the correct 10 minute interval I want, which is :00, :10, :20, etc. When I open up the configure box there is the time display which reflects as near as I can tell the time when I opened the setup box. Then there is the “offset” control then a bunch of buttons that have various update intervals. I’ve hit the “10 minute” several times and It is updating every 10 minutes, but not on the interval I want. It’s updating on the “:08’s” not “:10’s”. I’m probably missing something obvious, #-o what is it?
It seems to me that WD will upload WU on the interval you select but the actual times will vary occasionally.
If you view my data here:
you will see it is uploading every 5 minutes however at 14:00 you will see a break and the next upload was at 14:14 (I closed and restarted WD) and the rest of the day on the 4’s and 9’s.
Then yesterday:
The first upload was at midnight and then a 6 minute interval, WD probably busy and then the rest of the day on the 1’s and 6’s
I imagine that at times WD can’t get it uploaded on time (busy), off by a minute or two and then it continues from that time at the interval you select…
Im not sure about WD; however, the WeatherLink WU add-on itself has an “offset from the hour” setting to upload the info to WU. I upload at :29 and :59 past the hour, so that the last update of the day will include as much of the 24 hour period as possible.
I think I understand what you are saying about WD being busy and because of that some of the updates are off a minute or two.
What I am really wondering about is how do I at least get WD to start updates on an even interval. There is a spot in the setup dialog to specify the time with a > next to it which I’ve assumed means if I set a specific time of say 21:40 and hit the > and then hit the “update every 10 minutes” box below, WD will start updating at 21:40 and every 10 minutes after that. Does that make sense? Also how does the “offset from the hour” setting work in combination with everything else?
Click the “clear all” button on the WU setup screen to clear out what times you currently have set. Then, click the “upload every 10 minutes” button in that same group. Ignore the other times and offsets that appear unless you want to make minor changes. That should show a list of times beginning 00:00, 00:10 etc. Make sure the right on/off switch is on (but it should already be if it’s currently updating).
check the ftplog.txt and the time the wunderground update happened
when the data actualy made into the WU database…might be delayed…though…and the time that happens might be the time it ends up being
