So all that is needed is to replace the original moviemaker.exe with the new one and associated files? And it just replaces it? Are there any settings? I tried it and it made a mp4. I would like a wmv. Does it get automatically uploaded also?
yes, unzip to where WD is installed, to replace the existing one
it should create the .wmv file from the mp4 file
do you have it set to create a .wmv file?
not sure if you need the correct codecs on your pc
yes it should then auto ftp the created .wmv file
as long as you have set to upload the files
did you have the normal moviemaker.exe working Ok before?
Yes, movie maker has been working for quite a while. We had our first “real” snowfall in in this part of KY today (1"-2") I wanted to be sure that the alldayvideo works so I put the old moviemaker.exe back. I will play around some more this weekend.
Bit off topic (sorry), but can someone help me out.
I create a JPG with an other application, capturing a photo every 5 minutes (http://www.lyndhurst-hill.info/photo.php) I have, as far as I can tell all the correct settings and have the WebCamp capture recognizing the photo.
.
Anyway I must be doing something wrong.
(this is not related to the latest update, I wanted to give it a go so it is from scratch)
Henk - what do you have on the File Save tab? Is webcamimage or jpgwebcam set as the filename to save? Is it saved every minute? I take it you want to overlay some text on the image from your weather station - like mine, or do you want to create a video? That step needs another setup under Control Panel Webcam setup for Time stamped files. And then Webcam video setup tab for mpg to wmv or to swf.
you need to set WD to create time stamped web cam images, from the selected source file, in the webcam setup, time stamped images setup, in WD
(xxxxxjpgwebcam.jpg)
you then select the non date stamped file as the source to use in the all day video setup in the web cam setup in WD and set the needed settings on there to create the .wmv files
All working fine now with creation/upload and prog closing at end…Have done both manual and the timed auto creation etc…
Nice looking camping area…very enjoyable I bet
Edit: I am still really surprised how quick the new wmv creation is…it all takes place in just a few seconds for the 1 hr movie file…very impressive Brian and a massive improvement over the previous prog…

Hi Ed, I’m using it with XP. But I would assume, that now that there is not a .bat file coming up, that it will work with Win7 (as long as admin rights are granted to the new moviemaker.exe to run).
Edit: After a rebuild of my Main PC which normally did the video side of things, for some reason the old prog failed to make wmv files…this has now been overcome by the new Videomaker prog from Brian…
Is there anything other than copying the new files over to the main wdisplay directory that i need to do cause its not working for me.
I already had the original moviemaker creating the WMA every hour, last day and each night working great.
I tried this the other day with the 1st release and it didnt work.
Do i copy the .dll’s to the main wdisplay folder or do they go in the alldayvideo folder? cause there in the main wdisplay at present and its not working, I can see the moviemaker show in the taskbar but then closes straight away.
I am using every 30 second images so im not sure if that makes any difference and running XP
still running here on w2k; so much here on this machine ! I’m aware to change from (steering)software beside updates. costs me days (and nights) to rearrange all and got it working again in the past #-o.
For safeties sake, it is always better to shut down WD whilst doing updates to the WD folder. I also made sure that I had backups before doing all this. If I was prompted to overwrite files with the new files I just did so I then just restarted WD and the new moviemaker worked as required by my WD/Control panel/Webcam/WebcamVideo Setup requirements(with prev probs of course outlined in thread). I certainly didn’t need to do a further WD restart after each upgrade and the “create… video now” buttons both worked staright away…ie.no further save/exit, restarts were required after each upgrade for it to work.
tiggy, double click on the icon in the system tray and see what shows up
when its running (i wil get it to create the moviemakerlog next)
but I will test the ten second option…I had not tested that
munrobaggins, great its working for you
note that alot of the cpu and slowness before was also with windows media encoder, as well
It does not stay in the taskbar long enough to be clicked, one second its there, the next its gone! Even manually setting it to run from the control panel it’s still too quick to be clicked
