OK, I have two cameras looking out over the river we live on. I have one video capture card with 4 inputs for cameras. The card and its software were originally purchased for home security/surveillance. Now I am using one of the cams for a web cam for WD. The other cam in not in use because the software that came with the card will not work while WD is running. Apparently a driver conflict. Here is my question:
I could care less about the security software. So, I have two cams going into one card. WD only recognize the one feed (Cam) at a time. How do I get both cams on my web site? I guess don’t have to have it go through WD. I was thinking about just running the security software and then sending the files to the web server. The security software records continuously so it produces a file that has about 10 minutes of video at a time…no still shot unless you manually hit the “grab” button.
So I guess the net of this is how do I get both animated files and single grabs to my web page?
I realize it may be hard to picture the set up, so if you have questions please ask.
Thanks for the help.

are both your cams from the same manufacturer? - if so then yes you will have trouble running both as you will get those driver conflicts. If the cams are from different manufacturers then they should run at the same time in 2 different programs. So you could have one cam streaming via WD, and another connected to Webcam32 for example and uploading a still grab at whatever interval you require to your FTP server, then just link to the image in a webpage.
Just a suggestion of course.
WD has the hooks in it for 3rd party web cams I believe. If you can get the image into a directory that WD can see then you should be able to use WD to upload the picture.
I have an extra webcam here, a sucky old creative cam. I will have a go at it tomorrow, I want to see how WD handles the extra webcam as it may be useful to me later on…
so it does! well I never - it can add text for temperature and stuff too. Nice one.
The cams are the same, but they are video cams not true web cams. The card is the key. both cams run into this card. The card has 4 inputs so I could run up to 4 cameras into the card. I digress. The software that comes from this card allows you to run all the cameras at the same time and view at the same time. Think of it like a security camera system with a quad split screen. Now the system works fine when not running WD. So I think the best way may be to disable the WD web cam functions and then just push the files that are produced in the security software to my web server and try to use that.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks

Should work I would think. Just edit the datahtm3.txt file to show the images on your site.
I have also the same card but only one is connected to the surveillance system with no link to WD. WD is running on the same computer without trouble with one
i have a little program to delay the start of wd…
http://www.weather-display.com/wdstartdelay.zip
i.e have that start up first…
I’ll give a try next time I need to restart my computer.
Thanks for your commitment on WD.
Cheers.
