Moving Weather Station - how to start from scratch?

,

I don’t see this topic discussed in the FAQ section, but if it’s there, please point me to it.

This is a different sort of move; I’m not moving WD to a new PC, but instead I am physically
moving to a new town. It’s only about 25 miles away, but it is 2500 feet lower in elevation,
so the weather is going to be completely different. As such, I want to start over from scratch
as far as weather data collection and history, but I don’t want to have to completely start WD
from scratch, i.e. not a new install necessitating a complete resetting of all settings, colors,
web page configuration, web cam, etc. I don’t want WD to use the old history for the trends,
rainfall history, or anything from the current location.

I’ll be setting up a new domain and web server after I get settled, but I want WD up and running
as soon as possible after the move.

Is there an easy way to accomplish this? Would I just need to move all of the current log files
and data files (I want to keep the history for this location) then clear the logfile and datafile
directories? What else would I need to do? I’ll of course perform a data backup before shutting
down the PC, just to be sure I don’t lose anything during the physical move.

Thanks.

See this thread, it’s not exactly what you ask though.

Thanks, Niko. You are correct, that’s not exactly what I want to do. Deleting the
webfiles folder would remove all of my web page files (wxlocal.html, for instance).
That folder might be a place to start, though.

If you are sending data to CWOP, WU, WFY, etc. don’t forget to update your location.

I’ll definitely take care of that. Thanks.

delete the logfiles and datafiles folder and then go action, reset selected all time records, reset all for month/year/all time…
and then you will have to reset things like total wind run and sunshine hours

Thanks for the help, Brian. If I just delete the folders, will WD recreate them, of should
I just empty them? I want to save the historical data, so I’d copy the data to some new
folder.

-Keith

delete them when WD is not running
and then WD will recreate them when you restart

Great! Thanks.

Thanks from me too Brian. You’re soon have an Albuquerque, NM weather station and one less Colorado station (Coniferwx not Southparkwx). We are moving here for winters only and will try to keep Southparkwx running unattended for up to six months. It’ll be interesting.

The move is complete and I’ve set up a new web site. The process of deleting the indicated directories
seems to have worked, however, year-to-date rainfall was not zeroed out. It is still showing 20+ inches
of rain, even though it should have started at zero. Just wanted to point out that there must be some
other item that needs to be cleared that doesn’t get cleared by deleting the log files.

that data is stored in the wdisplay.ini settings file

you can set the new needed total under control panel ,barometer offset and rainfall setup
