Move from Windows to Debian

I have a Windows 7 I am geting sick of it.
This is my setup
Windows 7 with WD10.37.S152 it sends data to apache and mysql. This done via WDMysql and SFTP to the apache server.
One Ubunto server with mysql and apache
I use Echowit so to day I run a GW1000 to get data from my Weather Station.

Can I do a new vm and run a headless debian, or something you can advice me to use, to collect data on my GW1000 to feed my MySql and apache.

How can I convert history from my old windows 7 computer to my new headless vm ? Where do I start ?

I want to say GoodBye Windows !
Can I do that ?

I did the same and started using Weewx, it runs on ubuntu.
You can import all the lg.txt etc files from WD into it via the import routing.
There is a driver for the Ecowitt GW1000.

I love it, alternative I think there is an unix version of WD? Eitherway Weewx is working fine for me.
