Movavi Video Creating Editing uploading

Hello …

I have this real nice Sony HD camcorder and it stores images and AVI Video’s on the 8gb SD card inside it. I can then take the 8gb SD card out and transfer the files to my Laptop. This process goes pretty quickly and smooth on the Core i3 Laptop. The video files are saved and transfered as AVI files, which leads me to my first question. Would it be better if I converted them to MPEG4 files for playback on Windows Media Player?

what my plan is eventually is too take some of the video’s I already have, edit them/convert them etc and then I wanted to put them somewhere on my site, but realized that over a short time, all those large movie files will probabbly eat up all my paid for server space on my E-rice server.

I also wanted to be able to send the files to my local TV stations and perhaps have them be able to show them on the newscast/weather cast, if I capture some good quality stuff of interest…but sending them via email, or placing them on my own server…seems a slow process.

My next idea was to instead make a Facebook page for gateway2capecod and place a link on my website to it. this way I can up[load the files to facebooks servers, and not my E-rice server. Then any followers of my facebook will be able to see them and be notified as a follower to my facebook page when anything new is added to the facebook page. Does this sound like a good idea? The local tv stations perhaps could be followers also and then grab whatever video’s they desire to Air.

The software I am currently using is called Movavi and they have a suite package or you can purchase indivual parts of the suite software seperately. their site is here, if anyone wishes to rewad about it:

click on top tab that says “for home”, and you will see what the offer. right now I am using the 30 day trial version of the convertor and the editor software. it seems very user friendly interface and not very hard to figure out for a beginner.

if anyone has any other idea’s about doing this, please reply with your thoughts/expierience’s.

Thanks…Chris

i do know that with facebook , using the upload of a photo or image, you can just use the raw, and it converts and resizes auto
good trick that

Hi Brian…

Thanks for that tip. I also think, but am not 100% certain, the files may upload faster from my PC/LAPTOP to facebook servers versus my own e-rice server space. Im going to setup a facebook page soon and try it out.

See if you are able to view this 20 second clip, that is from irene in my backyard. it is 20 seconds in lenth and shoulkd play in win media player.

the link is here:

http://www.gateway2capecod.com/video/Irene 1.AVI

copy and paste entire line above into your browser, including the "1.AVI " part that is not underlined. leave a space inbetween the “1” and the “e” at end of irene word. and it should auto open WMPlayer

if you cant get that working, just go to this link below and click on the irene1.avi file on the parent directory page, let it buffer and it will then play:

I have 2 other good videos from Irene, and also a few from todays frontal passage that went through our area this afternoon.

Thanks…Chris

I got an error loading codec…but it did play, audio only…

I could view it (Firefox)
looks like a normal day here
(we had gusts of 65mph here a couple of days ago (spring equinox gales))

ps, what was the top windspeed you got Chris from Irene?

Hi Brian…

My station only recorded a 37mph gust, but the local TV stations reported Gust’s in the 72 mph range nearby. My anenometer would need to be in a more open area and perhaps a little higher to have got those gust’s. if I had the money I would put up a Tower and raise the anenometer higher, but then there always seem to be tree blockage too. The tower would go great right in the middle of the grassy area you can see on my webcam, BUT the biggest problem is, I dont own the property, I only rent here and dont think the landlord would like me putting one out there…lol

normally my highest gusts are from the N,NW and NE directions, as there is no blockage from those directions around the house here.

hello…

OK,I need some people to test this out for me. I created a Facebook page, and added a facebook/follow me on facebook link to bottom of my weatehr website home page.

Please go to my homepage and then click on the facebook logo/icon, and this should bring you to my West Wareham,ma Weather facebook page.

you dont even need a facebook account to get there and dont need to log into facebook. it should just bring you directly to the page I created.

once on the page you should be able towatch the 17 seconds in lenth rain HD video from yesterdays storm, and also below that, see a clickable link to my weather site.

let me know if they both work for you, and that you didnt need to sign into your facebook to see them…if you even have a facebook.

Thanks…Chris

Yes, all work. After watching the video I did get a pop-up telling me I needed to login to FB to continue. I was able to close that pop-up and click the link to your homepage ok.

Hello Dan…

thanks for testing it out.seems like it is all good to go and now I have a place to upload my video’s to in the future and keep them on someone else’s server’s instead of my E-rice server.

You can always upload to YouTube and link to it.

Hello Looney2ns… took your advice and created a Youtube Page. There is a link in the chatter section of the forums to my page, if anyone wishes to subscrube to it, and be notified of when I add any new video’s to it. If any videos’ are added that are really interesting I could also just add a link and description to it in the forums here for people to view it.

decided to keep Facebook as a place for family stuff, and then also the google+ as a place for following/friends/forum members.

by assigning all 3 to seperate uses, will be less confuzing.
