There are instances when it seems things don’t add up or jive when looking at some of the stats.
If I go to my web site or the WD display, it shows Rainfall Today at .022" and Yesterday at .005". When I look at the PWS display it says the last 24 Hour rainfall was .31" If I add .022 and .005 that gets me to .027, not .031? The last 48 hours should be equal to or higher than the last 24 hours?
I was also surprised to see that the Daily Stats page doesn’t have Rain data? I was going to see what the web page showed for yesterday to see what it showed for yesterday.
wd keeps its rain totals separate from the weather station
if the stations reset time for rain is different than that of WD then you will see differences with the way you are comparing
I was also surprised to see that the Daily Stats page doesn't have Rain data?
on your web site?
you could add custom tags to show yesterday rain, etc
They should be using a common set of data? I don’t know how the PWS would have gotten data the WD program didn’t. I mentioned the PWS was showing me a rolling 24 hours…a rolling 24 hours should be equal or lower than the previous 48 hours, no matter when you restart the day…
I was surprised at what items were chose for depiction on the Daily Stats page vs. the ones I personally would be more interested. Meteorologists might care about different things than Joe Consumer. I personally care about temp most and rainfall second.
I have not reached the level of sophistication with the software to change the data being displayed…Thanks for letting me know that could be done…
I am curious if a poll was conducted, what fields does the average person care most about? Which things they want to know the current value of, which things they want historical data for…I mentioned my own preferences…someone else might care more about the wind direction and speed if they sail, some else might care about the pressure if they have arthritis
I should mention as an aside that I took down my domain on the old server before it had fully propagated to the new server. As a result, I am unable to view my own site at this point but I know for some the NS has propagated already so they can see the new site. Not being able to see it, I don’t know if you moved over well or not?
Lew,
Since Tom (carterlake) did the original templates, I don’t know what the method used was for adding values to appear in the wxlocal5.html (trends) page… sorry.
I can see your site fine, so the DNS must have propagated to Comcast DNS (they’re my ISP for the home systems). My Netcraft toolbar shows it hosted on GoDaddy now.
I’ll post a Rain addin tomorrow morning for the wxlocal5.html template.
Took much longer for my routers to get updated…was unable to get to the domain for two full days.
Thanks for working on the rain data. Did you also work on the duplicated data? If I remember right, there is duplicated wind chill data?
I just did the WD update and will do the page 5 update next.
You pointed out my trends page wasn’t updating. Nor were my graphs. I have been unable to figure out why they aren’t uploading. I manually uploaded all the files I could find that weren’t updating automatically. I think when we were on the phone I turned off something because it wasn’t needed any longer as the client files were updating it???
thanks so much for the rain update to WX5. I have a bigger problem because neither the forecast data nor the web pages are being updated. I doublechecked the things you mentioned above.
Web Files Upload Times TAB
You should have a series of numbers in Blue (mine are every 5 minutes), and press OK to save.
That is how mine is set, and if I click on the “upload all now”, I can see FTP activity, however the web pages are NOT updated???
I just started another string about this problem. Please don’t reply to this issue here as it is no longer a missing data issue.
