Missing September Data

Hello

I’ve just noticed that all the data from the 1st of September to the 23rd of September has disappeared.
Does anyone know where I might be able to recover it?

Many thanks

Chris

I think we need some more information about what station you use and the version of WD.

Stuart

Apologies of course

Are you saying the data is not in the September log files? It is a huge difference between missing data on a web page and no data in the log files.

Stuart

Cheers Stuart. It’s missing from the log files 1st-13th. Only displaying 24th and 25th on website

How does your VP2 connect? What kind of logger? Looking at Wunderground there seems to be data from the 1st September.

Stuart

Presumably data is missing from the website because of all the problems you have had getting WD to upload files regularly?

Wireless, with a USB logger. That’s right, it’s uploading the data to WU but I can’t find it on the local machine. This tells me I’m looking in the wrong spot. It’s very odd.

There is an import option for Wunderground in WD using a csv file but not sure how it works I don’t have a Wunderground account any more

I don’t use WD on Windows, but is there a way to regenerate the monthly data web pages and upload them again?

If you look in the Setup menu item/Adv Misc Settings it opens a control panel and on the Program tab you can see where your log files are currently, I assume that the location on this is where you find the 092023lg.txt file which contains the past few days records. Does it contain the 082023lg.txt file for August and is that complete?

I’d start by getting Windows to search for a file called 092023lg.txt on any disk connected to the system, you may find more than one since WU has the data for all of September apparently. If you do find the missing data then shutdown WD and merge the log files in a text editor.

Did anything major happen in September like a big Windows update or a crash or power outage?

Clutching at straws here I’m afraid. That’s all I can suggest…

Stuart

Thanks, Stuart. Much appreciated but no such file. It’s strange how the data just disappeared.

the file names should be 92023lg.txt, 82023lg.txt and your current month 102023lg.txt

Yes apology for the ‘0’ on the front of the file names… :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: Don’t know what I was thinking!

Stuart

Hello
I found 92023lg.txt, data from September 14 only. The 82023lg.txt file is nowhere to be found. 102023lg.txt is there though.

Did you look in WD’s backup folder (C:\wdisplay\databackup)? There should be a monthly zip file, databackup82023.zip for August, that will contain 82023lg.txt.

Aside from the WD backup folder, you might want to consider backing up the entire wdisplay folder to an external drive or cloud (I backup my wdisplay to my NAS and OneDrive daily) because, inevitably, Windows and/or WD will crash and corrupt files, as I learned the hard way several times before I started backing up.

They did do a backup in the backup folder. I’ve extracted the files and moved the 82023 and 92023 logfiles to the logfile folder. .inf files to datafiles directory. Still missing the data from 1st September to 13th September. When I try to view historical data on Wmderground it defaults to Perth airport, I can’t seem to access any historical data on Wnderground for my station, The Vines Station.

Is it possible to post the first six lines of the 92023lg.txt file
I think the Wunderground issue is general I tried a random site in US and history gave nearest airport
