Map Feature in Air Quality

It works when I visit your website with Chrome, FF and Safari.

Wim

Yes, I found an error, try to fix it.

Check line 81 in your version of image_popup.php

$pop_img[$n]['url']     = 'https://release230/pwsWDxx/fct_windy_popup.php?script=AQ';

change to

$pop_img[$n]['url']     = $this_server.'fct_windy_popup.php?script=AQ';

Now tested on outside PC also.

Wim

That’s really strange, because I get nothing on Chrome and Edge on PC, or Chrome and Safari on Mac. Chrome on Mac returns the message “release230s server IP address could not be found”.

And only when I tested outside my LAN using screenshare, I got that same error.
That was the clue I needed. See adapted previous post for the solution.
I used the fixed link for my own test-server. Not the settings-link to the station it was running on.
So it loaded from my own server “release230”, and in-house that is my testserver so it is found even if I am testing your site…

It’s working now, although I can’t seem to show PM2.5 and other air quality parameters, which are apparently only available in the full Windy app.

You can click on the map it shows the value for the “dust” at that location.
At the menu on the right you can select between the pollutants CO PM(Dust) SO2 O3
You can also get the forecast for the pollutants (at the bottom), but then the visible area is IMHO to small

If the another map is more suitable we need to find it before I can add it.
Does your Main MeteoTemplate website maybe has a similar map we can use?

Wim

This is the Air Quality plugin that Meteotemplate uses: -

This is how the map is created: -

I used the Windy Widget builder to get what I liked.

I had to use the show-frame line in a previous post. Also removed the ‘iframe’…‘/iframe’ from the url generated by the builder.

Finally added the spot forecast and it looks and acts like every other Windy map in the template.

Hi Wim,

Reviving an old thread here. This week Windy have added Purpleair sensors, and I was wondering whether the script could be modified to include these in the map?

Your avatar points to WessexWeather | Forecast and weather data from Dorset and I am not familiar with MeteoTemplate.

The full “stand-alone” version https://www.windy.com/ has both a “pm2.5” and a “Dust” layer.

For the PWS_dashboard:
I tested windy from the menu (full page iFrame) and as popup (smaller iFrame).
The embed script Windy: Wind map & weather forecast has no (new) pm2.5 layer (yet ?).
We therefor still need to use the “Dust” layer. It displays the pm2.5 value for the selected location.

If could not find a “Purpleair” reference for Windy.
Maybe you can post your question at a Windy forum and then post the answer here? Thanks.

Wim

Thanks for your friendly reply.

If you had scrolled up you would have seen our previous conversation as well as the url for my PWS_Dashboard installation, which I promote heavily on my other websites and Twitter accounts. However…

Here is yesterday’s announcement about Windy’s collaboration with PurpleAir: -

I thought it might be useful to display a map with proper air quality information rather than dust.

Have a nice day.

Sadly that windy link shows the full (stand-alone) version.
There you can add “show stations” which show the measurement directly, see attached screenshot.
The embed version does not allow you to specify the values on the map. It seems to be only temperatures.
To use other layers values and other features you need the paid for version which starts at 990€ / year.

In the embed version only the flag will show the “dust” (=pm2.5) values. Or the wind-value if you selected wind.

Understandable as their embed is a service from windy to us who want to show it in an iFrame.

I agree we need a better map but now “where to find one?”

Wim

Alas these free resources are becoming harder to find. Pity this info isn’t available in Windy’s embed version.

Will let you know if I spot anything.
