Make your own Weather Radar (PC MOD)

I found a site that someone took a old weather radar and made a pc mod out of it. the site is gone so I had to use Web Archive to find it. Mini-ITX Weather Radar Display Project for NWS NEXRAD Doppler Radar

Looks pretty neat I think.

That end result is COOL!

Would probably be a worthy investment in this part of the world, where the national weather service shuts you off with just 3 hour updates.

Keep in mind that the mod was just making a PC screen which looked like a radar screen. The “radar” is just NOAA radar data being displayed with Storm Predator. This is essentially the same thing that many of us do… just that our’s is retangular.

(Not to say it isn’t a cool PC mod)

Before we had all this great internet stuff I actually used a boat radar for storm detection. It was good for 15 -20 miles out with the big CB’s and a lot of fun.

so its not your own personal rain radar
but a radar display modified to show the NWS rain radar available from the internet
gotcha!
and its not april 1 yet!
