Low cost (really low cost) USB WiFi 50Mbps b/g adapter

Needed a spare WiFi USB adapter for around the house when working on whomevers computer ends up at the house that doesn’t already have WiFi, primarily desktops…

On Amazon, I picked up an inexpensive generic WiFi 54Mbps 802.11G/B USB adapter

Was inexpensive at $8.85, Really… and easy to install. Supports Linux, WinXP, Win7 (32/64).

I’m getting 20Mbps off my 4G Hotspot with it with it connected to just about anything I connect it to.

At that price and as good as it works, I am going to pickup a few more as I never seem to have enough of these.

Nice find  Looks like you can connect a different antenna, is that correct?

It’s got a standard WiFi antenna connector, so yes though I had not thought of doing that.

My wife has a desktop with a WiFi adapter so she can move it on a whim where ever she wants it without having to rerun cables over and over again. It moves a lot more often than you would think…

She was getting peeved when I took the adapter to work on another computer as it was interfering with her Facebook/Farmville play… Her adapter was a nice one, cost like $30 or so, the other $8.85 one works just as well and uses the same family of drivers.

Using it with an external (gain) antenna could be interesting for RV’ing

You could buy a couple dozen and supplement your on income on the road…

LMAO…

Cute

I kind of like this one Amazon.com (except for the price).

Not to sure about that… Looks a lot like a rail gun… you might scare the locals with that.

Dam Amazon, wont ship them to New Zealand

Looks like the same thing on ebay, shipped from China http://cgi.ebay.com/300Mbps-Wireless-USB-Adapter-Wifi-802-11n-g-b-LAN-Card-/180647592844?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0f6f838c
