I’m needing a new windows computer, here in the USA, want would you guys suggest for around $600 with out a monitor?
I’m thinking with at least 32g ram
WD doesn’t need that much RAM - I’ve run it on 8GB easily. But I learned years ago it’s best that the computer is dedicated to WD if you can do so. WD seemed to crash at times when other software was running and WD was running specific processes.
My current WD computer is a 2021 Dell Inspiron 15.6" FHD 3501 Laptop running Windows 11 with an 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i3-1115G4 Processor, 16GB RAM, and two Solid State Drives (256GB for OS & software + 1TB for storage). But I just purchased an HP all-in-one computer ($499 last week during Amazon’s 2-day sale) with 24" monitor with an Intel® Core™ i3-N300 Processor, 8GB RAM, and one 512 GB SSD to replace the laptop. The laptop was fine, but I wanted a 24" display rather than 15.6" and with the all-in-one, I have more room on the desk with just a wireless keyboard and mouse. Hopefully, I’ll have time this weekend to set it up and move WD to the new PC.
Hey thanks for the info, that really helps me a lot, the technology changes so much anymore.
That’s a good idea to run a dedicated computer for WD and my weather stuff
I didn’t want to run my desktop computer 24/7 for WD so, after a bad experience with a Gigabyte BRIX, back in March 2020 I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 780 for £100, added some memory (now 8 GB), and replaced the CD drive with an SSD for backup. It’s been running 24/7 since, uploading WD files and webcam pics to the server. It has no display, I use TeamViewer to control it from my desktop, and I run client WD on my desktop when it’s switched on.
Neither machine can be “upgraded” to Windows 11, but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. Which might be sooner rather than later: my desktop is even older than the WD computer
My last unit was one of these

Beelink MINI-S12 Mini PC, 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake-N95 Processor (up to 3.40GHz) Mini Computer, 8GB RAM 256GB SSD Business Mini Desktop PC, Dual HDMI/WiFi 5/BT 4.2/RJ45/WOL/Auto Power On with windows 11 pro
I tried something similar (but a lot cheaper) before the BRIX, but its second Win 10 update broke it: no wifi, no SD card, no USB. . . and customer support was useless
I had a similar unit but it was made by Dell so was great for a weather station 24-7.
I have since upgraded to a bigger unit and had no problems with this dell unit either.(So far)
