Linksys WVC54GC Wireless Web Camera

I am looking to use the Linksys WVC54GC Wireless web camera for my web camera capture. It has an on-board web server, but I haven’t been able to figure how to address it to WD. It is on my network and I can view it with the software that came with it. Or directly by typing in its address into a web browser. It has a active-x control which displays the camera picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The way I have mine setup is the webcam captures an image every 5 minutes and ftp’s the image to my WD machine. From there WD picks it up and puts the overlay on it and then ftps it to my server using the 3rd party webcam setup.

As for WD controlling the cam I don’t know if thats possible over your network, I never tried to configure mine that way but I don’t think it will work unless the camera is hooked up to your WD machine directly. Does the cam you use allow you to ftp images to another machine?

Looks to me like it serves video, but also has a push button on the web client to capture snapshots. I didn’t see anything in the manual about ftp. Maybe it can do scheduled snapshots?

Or directly by typing in its address into a web browser
set WD to HTTP download from that URL to a local file name you set, in the HTTP download in the ftp/internet setup and then select that file to use with the 3rd party web cam setup

Does that work if it serves MP3 video rather than .jpg ?

oh, i missed that
no…

Dan,

So is your camera a Linksys WVC54GC?

Thanks
Terry

Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my post, I do not use the same camera but mine is a network camera with built-in server.

Can you save a still image with your cam, either via a schedule or manually?

Can you PM or post the link to your webcam so we can see the web interface for it?
