Greg did you see the FAQ?

Yes , it is now a ;little out of date with all the updates, but have followed it through!. I Cannot seem to get the ID, or the computer is not detecting, or my wiring for the unit is not right.
Greg
is it a usb or serial 1 wire comport?
Yes it is possable you have the wires reversed. I first tried mine on the desk. Just a short bit of wire with plug on one end and bear wires on the other end. One way you will get a ROM ID and the other way nothing.
That is assuming that the adaptor and drivers are all installed correctly and the port selected. Maybe a full reboot may help as well.
One way of helping find the USB port number is try the 1-wire viewer. In the setup it asks for the port number and says if no adaptor is detected. That also works if it is serial.
Greg thanks for pointing that out…
I have updated the FAQ with newer images that should help a bit I hope… The steps are basically the same as far as I can tell and the first thing I strongly recommend is setting up inside and testing thoroughly, as is mentioned in the FAQ.
