in any case, the serial number in the .xml file needs to be 1864555935
The link seems to be pointing to a correct xml.
But testing without a serial number (as is in the default xml) would also help.

I am sorry about my difficult setup. WDL works great under http://www.wanakaweather.co.nz/weather2/index.php?p=21&lang=en#data -area for me with my serial number as issued (135975271951). I obviously need to restart as my upload files go to …/data which is where the clientraw files are. As i am not au fait with the workings of all this I have managed to get myself out on a limb by trying to work with 2 templates together. I am aware that I have not followed the WIKI and am the author of my own misery. As I started this whole process off by trying to work with both I have been reluctant to start again but as I like what I have got so far it seems prudent to start again and stick with 1 template. Under weather/2 most things were working great. It is with /weather27 that I have tripped up. My apologies Wim for not following your excellent instructions. I was naive to think I had the skill to work between the two. I had copied my wdl-en-config.xml file from weather2 and placed itin uploadWD but obviously it appears I would need to redirect the template to accommodate that and as I am the only one doing this I will stick with /weather2 for now and look to start again. Thanks all. The other thing I am at a loss to explain is when I try to access my site via the earth icon I get the same result of no serial number but when I use my link on my computer there is no problem. The urls appear the same but do not work the same. I reloaded my profile and the issue seems to have gone away. I could not see any difference but it works now.

the records/today has a year of 1997 against it on the hi value if this is from my station info that is wrong as I only started in 2003

I don’t think one is any better than the other. You just need to choose one and stick with it, mixing them is what causes trouble. You may need to arrange a re-direct in case a visitor uses the wrong option. I think Brian gave you the non-www code in Reply #20.
I now have it working. I did not read your instructions close enough Wim and had been placing the wdl files in the wrong place. Once I put the correct ones in my …/data folder I got results. thanks to all who helped me see the solution. No wonder you stress so much the paying attention to the WIKI. My apologies for once again not doing that.

This is a legitimate question which by definition cannot be “causing a problem”.
There are at most 8 min/max temps on the dashboard and they are loaded from different sources.
Today => from the weatherprogram
Yesterday => most weatherprograms supply them directly, others need an extra upload or a cron job
Month => from the weatherprogram
Year => from the weatherprogram
Last year => optional => if “today one year ago” you were a member of weather underground this data comes from WU => your stations data
Station Record => optional => only if your weatherprogram supports it ( WeatherDisplay does).
Records/today => always ? => from the almanac data of WeatherUnderground
Normals/today => always ? => from the almanac data of WeatherUnderground
It seems that the WU retrieval of almanac data is not always correct.
The script retrieves the data using latitude/longitude which returned at all testsites the correct data.
But you are the second station which does not return data AND does not return an error but only empty data.
I am adapting that script at the moment to switch to METAR when retrieving empty data for latitude/longitude.

Hi Wim, is there a good reason to upgrade or is it primarily for new users?
If its a must, is there a file list as to what files have been modified and needs to be uploaded please?
- There is no “good” reason to upgrade, especialy if you have a heavily modified site
- It is geared towards new or nearly new users as the main goal is now to lessen the set-up time and support-time needed.
- Nearly all scripts are changed,
3.1 most important the upload of data is now only in 2 text files
3.2 multi select for all forecasts
3.3 a lot of checking for invalid situations added is based on the problems with all releases before 2.7
3.4 try to get more separation between user-scripts & user-data on one side and system-data on the other
Just skip this release and see at the end of the year (2.8) or June next year (2.9) if the differences are important enough to do the switch.
Current release 2.6 and 2.7 will continue to have full support,

did not realise that weatherunderground was being used to fill some of the boxes, I thought it all came from the weatherprogram
I have only uploaded data for this year to WU and only been doing realtime to them since 1/5/2015 which I put in the setup I am still using WD build 81 for my web data and uploads to my site and uploads to WU this I believe is now a problem according to another thread

I put the updated wualmanac file on my test unit and my main site
Test unit this is showing values in the normals etc which is as you have configured for
main site this is still showing no values for normals
the only difference I can think of is the data folder, test is uploadWD (standard folder) and main is …/backup *3 (standard disabled) so not sure why it is ok on 1 and not the other
have I missed something in my setup

The test site is not accesible, due to a dynamic DNS ? Message: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
The almanac data is only loaded once per day form WU and your own wu data. The rest of the day it is read from cache as it should remain the same for the whole day.
In theory this days max/min could be more extreem than all previous years max/min, but I do not think that that is enough reason to spend your wu-key allowence to read the data more than once every day.

I had not checked till I read your post both ok
when you tried the test unit this morning it was still on it’s over night shut down, hours are 8am to midnight daily BST UK zone this will have caused the error
