I received a 2310 as a gift and according to the manual the backlight stays on when using AC power and when using batteries it stays on for 15 seconds when you push a button. I connected mine to AC power and the backlight still only works for about 10 second and only when I push a button. Any ideas from “veteran” 2310 users??? thanks…
Mine is on AC power and the backlight stays on… wish it wouldn’t sometimes…
Maybe remove your backup batteries and make sure the AC is really powering it :dontknow:

I found this information on another forum. 2310 and 2315 units made prior to a certain “date code” have the backlight that stays on when the unit is attached to ac power. This apparently caused the internal temperature and humidity to be high. As is the Lacrosse Way, instead of solving the problem, later units just had the backlight turn off. Here is what the Lacrosse tech posted as to the date code:
" We may still have a limited amount of the “older” stock in our warehouse. You can check the production date on your unit by checking the “xNy” number on the back of the unit. The x is the month of manufacture (Oct = A, Nov = B, Dec = C) and y is the year of manufacture. The newer units have a code of 9N3 or later."
Apparently, they have a lot of stock because mine is the old version as well. I have adjusted the offsets in WD to match the error caused by this defect.
Thanks for the info. I checked and based off of that info, mine was manufactured in July of 2004 which is a later model. I guess having the backlight off considering the other issues is not a bad thing. Thanks again.
I’d be interested to know what forum the La Crosse tech posts on - I’ve had a devil of a time getting hold of them!

I contacted LaCrosse about this very same problem with my WS2315. Apparently the always on backlight skewed the indoor temperature reading. Here is the response I received:
No. The always-on backlight causes the indoor temperature to read incorrectly, so the 2310 display was changed. I apologize for the failure to properly update the manual.
