jpgwebcam.jpg image not being FTP'ed to Weather Undergound

I did read the thread by daughn and their issue of not getting their image uploaded to Weather Underground. It looked like it may be an issue with the webcam capture program. I didn’t want to hijack their posts so I’ve created a new one being that I have the same issue with Weather Underground, but not the webcam capture program.

I am having the same problem as daughn. My webcam device in WU is not online, my weather station is online though. The uploading of the image stopped a few months ago and I have been trying whatever I can think of to get it back working. I have the ID and key/password entered as noted by NorCal Dan in the Weather Underground publication page with no luck. My webcam capture program is creating the jpgwebcam image with no issue.

Could this be a WU issue of not “turning on” the device? I’ve sent them an email explaining my issue last week with no response.

Do I need to enter the same login info in the “Connection” and “Web Cam Upload” tab of the FTP/Internet Setup Page?

what shows in the file
sentwuwebcamdata.txt

And is your webcam image filesize smaller than 150k ?

Yes, the file size is 72 kb and the "sentwuwebcamdata.txt is as follows:

This is a known issue with WU. The FTP upload method is not working. The problem is on their end. The best recommendation is to use the URL method.

Just to confirm, each “MY DEVICE” has a unique ID and KEY…make sure you use the webcam credentials…

NorCal Dan; yes each device has a unique ID and Key.

galfert; thank you for the info about WU’s FTP issues. I’ll look into the URL method. Any idea if or when WU will fix the FTP issue?

Thank you all for your time and help.

Stay safe and healthy.

Set it up and let it run and see what happens. Even though mine works, only a few images a day make it to WU…so it’s highly hit’n’miss with them.

I’ve had it setup for a week or so now with no luck. I guess it is with WU and will wait to see if they resolve the issue.

Thanks again for your help.

Just checked my sendWUwebcam file and it reports a failed password as well…but my image does update occasionally so like I said earlier, seems to be hit’n’miss with when it gets accepted…

WU has not said when they will fix the FTP issue. It is their standard operating procedure to not say anything. They do what they do when they do.

Looks like WU has granted access to my Webcam upload. All is working with no issues, at least for now.
