January2005 has 30 days, February2005 has day 26!

Having just started up my PC as usual this monring and run ‘Update Ave/Extremes’ manually as I have to I checked the conrtents of January2005.htm and it only contains 30 days #-o So I thought I’d just see if February2005 had been created yet, yes it had and it has only one day in it - Day 26 #-o

So what is going on here? Yes I know I can recreate the January file, but despite some other problems in it with rain which I have yet to address I did expect it to have 31 days. To be honest I did not expect February to create until I ran the Ave/Extremes function tomorrow on the 2nd, or at least it would have very little in it for Day 1!

most likely because you were not running wd overnight with the change of the month it has not worked correctly
but it should be fixable, i.e it will be just some key data missing from the logfile
(post here the last part of jan’s log file

i am thinking your rain problems also result from not running wd overnight, and getting the data at start up every morning

Brian here are the last few lines of 12005lg.txt. I have been checking this file regularly and there does not appear to be any data missing from the whole month. It all seems to get updated OK I think.

I have two January 30th entries in my daily report - http://www.cuckney.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/weather/January2005.htm - not sure whether this is the same problem.

My system posts change of day after midnight. It provided a link to 31.1.05 fpr ‘todays 24 hour graph’ but did not upload the graph.

I am using WD 10.19v which I have held on following problems in 4th Q 2004 with month end system collapsing.

My main weather page on http://www.cuckney.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/weather/Dorridge.htm seems to have arrived at February with MTD figs reset OK

I have two January 30th entries in my daily report
actualy, so do I #-o

re the last part of the month

what is missing is a hour zero and minute zero right after the last midnigth entry in the log file…
I think that is where the problem lies…
then wd does not detect the change in day

so if you add
1 2 2005 0 0 8.4 94 7.5 1028.5 6 10 315 0.0 0.5 17.5 17.5 8.4
to the end of the log file for jan
and then recreate the jan av/extreme file
see if that fixes it…

i will have to get wd to not stop and then restart the new logfile until 1 minute after midnight

Brian I have now realised why I dont have 31 days in January. When I ran Ave/Extremes this morning it did not rebuild the January2005.htm file, I’m still looking at yesterdays file #-o

So it looks like I have to rebuild the January file another way. I guess from the View Ave/Extremes option to rebuild a month there! This is another issue for those of us who cannot run at midnight! It worked in December2004 as I was up late to see the new year in

Brian I have now recreated the whole January2005.htm from the View/Ave/Extremes options. It worked and I now have a complete month. you can see it at http://www.broadstairs.org/January2005.htm

Is there some way you can get this to create autmatically for those of us unable to run over midnight?

One question about January now is should each day have a line which says the rainfall for that day? There is a summary at the end OK but I thought it used to have a line in each day section as well (looking at other peoples files previously). The other rainfall problem with duplicate lines in some days has gone away after the full rebuild.

Also why does February2005.htm only have the 26th in it? Actually it now has 2 Day 26 in it as I ran the Action/Update Ave Extremes twice!

Brian,
In here WD running 24/7. Still “January2005.htm” include only 30 days. No “double days” for logfiles. No February logfiles created yet.
I can fix these manualy, but I don’t want fix these month after month… 8O

WD is 10.21x

Eki

Running 24/7 here and also have same problem. Only 30 days for January. January 30 entered twice in extremes. Am clueless on how to rebuild data . Not important to me though as long as fix is coming for next months data. Using version 10.21x.

Thanks, Billy

You can actually edit the January2005.htm directly (via notepad or something) on your hard drive and perhaps change the duplicate day 30 title to day 31 - the data itself appears to be from day 31 just that the title isn’t.

So now it is Febraury and the January2005.html is no longer updated it should be safe to make any changes you want to it then resave it locally - and if you have an FTP program then upload it.

OR

to rebuild the January page from the monthly data as Broadstairs did

go to

view > averages/extreme > recreate the web av/ext tab - select month 1 for 2005 and click the reset button above - WD will take a few minutes to recreate the data

cheers

i got 2 30th as well
Averages\Extremes for day :29

looks like i have some work to do on this
its been a bit of a bug bear these reports, the last part,…of the last day of the last month

Brian I have just done an Action/Update Ave Extremes and it created February2005.htm with another Day 26. So I deleted the whole file and ran it again, still only contains Day 26. Any ideas why?

I’ve just done my ave/extremes manula update and today 2nd Feb it managed to add Day 02 OK, but I’m still left with Day 26 as the first day. So I deleted February2005.htm and ran ave/extremes again this time it put in only Day 02. Why Oh why did it point blank refuse to create me a February2005.htm with Day 01?

Anyway Ive got day 1 now by recreating from the view ave/extremes option and editing out day 03.

Really annoying that it refused to create it properly the first time.

I managed to fix my January2005htm file and also fixed the data on my webpage. Just wanted to thank

Already been done!

Billy

much appreciated - have had a number of “cloudy” ones lately - but to be honest I don’t take any notice of the climate number - would be happy for it to be zero all the time - or even not have it switched on at all as it serves no purpose.

But I was glad to help - knowing the best way to fix something sometimes is not easy to find.

cheers.

I couldn’t agree any more with this statement. I usually don’t give out sunny’s. I don’t think they should be part of any support forum. Most of the sunny’s I’ve given out have been to new members who for one reason or another were hit with a cloudy and were -1 or below. Might as well just call them a loser. I think it’s bad for business and if they were part of the forum when I first joined and was using WD as a trial for a month, I may have left the forum and not bought the software. I’d rather just have a thank you or just thank someone for helping. Just my 2 cents.

Billy

Hi Billy,

see this thread for info on the “karma” system - it was implemented for a bit of fun - with point 7 being emphasised.

http://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/7255

perhaps admin should do a poll to see if people want to keep it or not now that it has been on trial for a few months??

cheers
