I have been trying to upload WD to my homepage website but with no luck. I am using geocities.com as my FTP server and homepage and I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, but after several several hours of trying to get this thign to upload, and having no luck, I’m about to scrap WD and look for something new. Can SOMEONE please help me set this thing up?
Sure, plenty of people here can help. First question, can you manually ftp to your web space? Any info you can provide, error messages for example, will help us find the problem so we can help.
edit: didn’t see the 2nd thread started on the subject…

Which Geocities type account do you have as it appears that the FREE does not support FTP…
"FTP for putting files on the server
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It’s a convenient, easy-to-use method of sending files across the Internet, and you can use FTP to build and edit your web site. Simply download an FTP client to access your GeoCities web site and load new pages and images.

Yes, not only is WD really good, but the programmer is on this forum all the time helping out users (but remember he’s in New Zealand and his wife won’t let him work the whole 24 hours), but it also has a great group of worldwide users who try very hard to help out anyone who is having difficulty.
I see that you got a response to your pretty vague initial question in 43 seconds, so you should already realize there are many people here who will try to help you and who have used the program successfully for years. But you have to be prepared to work with them and it’s not always going to be instant service.
WD FTP works. Most often there are problems with the way the user has set it up, most often not having specified the directory correctly. There can also be issues with the user account, with the host not accepting particular types of files, with bandwidth quotas, many things that are not directly problems with the software and which the helpful folks on here will need your help in understanding.

that is either a firewall bloking or you do not have the ftp details set correct in the connections setup
click on view full details in the ftp log, and post that here to shed more light
I would recommend you establish a manual connection first…that will ensure you have the right username and password to login to your ftp server. I just find it a much simpler to login manually first to make sure it really works. Won’t do much good to try and force WD to make a connection if you have the wrong settings. Do you have a ftp program you could use to establish a connection, like cuteftp or something similar?
