I cannot get Web Cam Capture to connect to my IP cam despite having the proper IP,port username and password set. Any help is appreciated. Image attached.
Searching for Foscam finds this thread which may help.
Thanks Niko. I tried the suggested url but it crashes Webcam Capture. Albeit, it says that it is streaming but there is no preview and the software locks up. Have to shut the Process Tree with the Task Manager.
Can you access the cam if you put your IP address:port number in your web browser?
Yes I can. All access is fine via any device in or out of network. Seems to be Webcam not liking something.
Try one of these on this page. Try in your web browser first to see if they work.
hankster: In WD are you using the user/password boxes, or just putting it all in the URL box?
I’m using the username/password in the URL. I set it up so long ago I’m not sure why it is that way but it has worked for a few years without a problem.
Thanks, useful info
On the IP Cam setup page try this…blank out the username and password boxes. For the URL try:
http://10.0.1.213:88/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=guest&pwd=foscam
Replace the IP:port with your actual IP and port #
Replace usr with the account name you setup in the camera
Replace pwd with the password you setup in the camera for the user account
You didn’t say which foscam your using…depending on what model you have you may need a different URL. Let me know what you have
and I can probably find the correct URL to use with your cam.
