After Looking at multiple ways to try to get my IP cam to connect to WD. I can not figure it out can some one please help.
rtsp://user:Password@IP:Port/live/ch0 is the access to the IP camera to get the live feed from it.
It does not save images at all.
Thanks
Thanks for the information
Our camera does not save images locally and only sends out live video to another program with no issues.
The camera is a Wansview 1080P W2
Wireless 1080P Outdoor Security Camera
Unless something has changed, WD can’t handle rtsp streams. There’s a thread from last year here that outlines a third party work around.
It’s hard to know what these cams will support anymore…not all will contain an http handler as they try to get them out the door as cheap as possible. RTSP seems to be gain in popularity and would be a very nice addition to WD…
FWIW, I use 2 programs to monitor my cams, Sighthound and Netcam Studio X…both handle multiple cams and work with RTSP and HTTP connect strings. I prefer Sighthound but the license fee will give you a heart attack (if you want more than 2 cams)…Netcam Studio is free for 2 cams. My biggest complaint with Netcam Studio is getting it to detect movement and start recording…works fine when cars drive past the house, but when people walk past not so good.
Good luck with your setup…it’s suppose to be fun
