Im more of a Nascar fan, but was watching the race in Vegas ealier and seen the 15 car wreck. Dan Wheldon was involved in that wreck, and later died from his injuries. He was only 33 years old. RIP Dan

This is one of those wrecks that really makes you stop and think. Having my dad race since before I was born and me racing from age 5, these incidents hit home.

From a European perspective, this race series seems rather strange and very dangerous with concrete walls instead of soft run-offs.
It tends to look like a multi-lane freeway going 10x faster rather than a race (?!)
Nonetheless I appreciate many enjoy the event and following their favourite drivers.

That track like most now have the safer barriers to lighten the impact.

The barriers still catapult any debris back into the path of other cars - in F1 this can rarely happen.

yeah, it does. Its mainly to help the impact for the drivers, so its not as hard as hitting concrete.

Maybe they need to stop running F1 races on street circuits?

yeah… That has been brought up by many people… Them cars should not be on oval tracks. At that Veags track, they were getting up to 225mph… thats way to fast.
