Hi Tom!
How can I (ie in wich file) can I increase the forecasts windspeed a little bit because they will be little low, if you remember my station gives little low (average)readings do to the place were it is placed.
So what I wanted is to increase the offset you putted in my files a little if you tell were i can find it
Otherwise it make realy good forecasts for me
best regs

Hi Henkka,
One place to find the setting is on the Import page, where it says something like “GFS Wind Factor”. It may be set to 80 or 85, or so. Higher settings will raise the wind speed.
However, I don’t think that change will survive exiting and rebooting. There is a place in your cty.fdt file where the boot-up setting exists. I’m wary, though, of changing it too quickly, because other aspects of your customization, such as diurnal temperature range, are affected by it. In other words, you have to be careful, or you might reduce the accuracy of the temperature forecast a bit.
The setting I gave you was not intended to totally reflect your own wind readings. Almost all home anemometers read too low, and I seldom really try to match those low wind speeds. On the other hand, winds at airports may be unrepresentatively strong, so, I compromise. I would think that the wind speeds you’re getting in the forecast are stronger than what you see on your station, but a bit less than at nearby airports. Also, recall that most of the wind speed information is coming from the GFS data.
I suggest you follow this for a while, and perhaps archive forecasts and do comparisons under File/Retrieve, to establish over time if there is a significant bias.
Hope that helps!
Tom
