something has changed with the compiler after a latest instalelled patch
and now the install fails
but I have a work around:
after you have downloaded and installed WD as per normal
then
right mouse click on the weatherdisplay package (as its a weatherdisplay.app package file, i.e has hidden folders (all applications are like that on a Mac)
and select to show package contents
then go to Contents
then MacOS
then rename the file
weatherdisplay.tmp
to
weatherdisplay (i.e with no extension)…this is the main executable
then go back to the folder where installed (e.g applications)
and double click as per normal to run WD
The latest update has a fix for lightning counts from a GW1000 station and also fixes the Davis WLL cron program crashing on start up with Big Sur
I have tried this way but WD keeps crashing.
I changed the name (removed the extension). Incidentally, the consequence is that “Terminal” wants to access files. But that aside. I gave an OK.
WD opens neatly and quickly displays time and temperature in the home screen. Then the cron program opens. Which displays the IP of my Meteobridge and port (?) 22222. Then WD crashes the cron program stays open but I can’t do anything with it.
Another attempt… I open the WD program, see above. The cron program opens and I close it again. I go to setup WD can choose another language, English, but I can’t get any further. I have tried to change the IP in the cron program to that of the WLL but that doesn’t work. I would think to see that in the setup.
I already made an attempt with a previous version in March. Did not work then either, see also this forum on march 30, moved by the administrator.
I have:
iMac 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4.
On Big Sur 11.2.3
A Vantage Pro2 plus, Meteobridge Nano / SD and a Davis Weather Link Live.
when starting over, try deletikng the WDISPLAY.INI and wdisplayftp.ini settings files
from the ~/Documents/wdisplay/
folder
and also check the permissions on that folder
Good morning (I suppose because for most people it’s bedtime where you are) Brian, what I did is:
Update Macos from 11.2.3 to 11.3.1
removed the extension in weatherdisplay.tmp
deleted both .ini files you mentioned
What is different from yesterday and earlier when it still fails is the update of the OS and the deletion of the .ini files. Let’s just say the latter was the solution. Because it works. Now do setup etc …
Thank you so much Brian. Have a nice day.
Bart
I followed your instructions. The only thing different was there was already a weatherdisplay (no extension). So i had to delete that before renaming the weatherdisplay.tmp to just weatherdisplay
