Import 12 JR of WSWIN data into WD

Hi All,

Is there a easy way to import all of the history data from WsWin into WD?
The data collection is over 12 years.
What I tried to, it is not importing everything into WD.
The format I have is in the attachment (Sample in xlsx format instead of csv).
I am using extra temp/UV/Solar/Soil/ sensors.

tnx,
Martijn

Sample export EXP08_20.xlsx (10.9 KB)

what and how and who collected this data?

Hi Brain,
The data I have collected is done by myself. I am running WsWin for more then 12 years. The program is not stable enough, so I am looking for another stable program. I am not a fan of cloud solutions and I like to holdon to the history of the collected data.

Since you cannot specify which column belongs to which value (sensor), you cannot easily import all data to the correct sensors. For that I am looking for the correct way to transfer the data from WsWin to WD.

if you can create the WD logfiles, in that format, then you can import the data that way
(action, convert WD logfiles to data files)
but WD does have a way to import the WSWIN .csv logiles directly
see under action, import from other software
(no gaurantee it will work)

Not sure if I can help here. I’ve been converting 10 years worth of data from Wswin and weatherlink to WD. It’s slow, and painful.

I’d strongly advise setting up a separate version of WD to do your importing in, this means you can run your ‘proper’ version without worry if things go pear shaped. You’ll need 3 .txt files, month (ie 102025.txt) plus the extra log and vantage log .txt files for the extra sensors. I don’t have the extra sensors so you may have to look carefully at these when you start. The test version of WD also helps you to get used to the program, again not in a live environment.

Try using the import facility in WD for wswin, don’t use wswin new checkbox, I’ve no idea what it does!

Before you start, you’ll need to export from wswin each monthly file with the correct sensors on in .csv format. Use the export facility in wswin, the files appear in the root directory, create a new directory in wswin to move these to, it helps!

Import this monthly file into WD. Once imported, use Action, convert, ‘log file’ and convert the month you’ve just imported.

View the imported log file in the averages/extremes tab. This should give you a month view of the log. I found it useful to output from wswin a monthly NOAA file for comparison.

If you want me to continue to document this, let me know as it could be quite long but I’m happy to help if you want me to continue.

Best regards, Linda
