I am still here even though I’m being quiet. I’m busy fixing a number of things in the background, e.g

  1. Database backup issue - Resolved. Caused by port number missing from script
  2. Updating all servers to the latest version. I’m 2/3rds finished with this work now.
  3. Fixing a ‘security’ backup problem. This backup copies the server backup files (held on an independent storage device) onto my NAS at home. This proved to be a password issue…passwords are stored in 3 places for the backup process and I’d only changed 2 of them.
  4. Updating the forum software.

I’ve also got some bits of software development going on in the background. Nothing earth-shattering though. One is just tidying up something that could work better and the other is a little experiment which might prove useful. The experiment is currently stalled whilst I try to figure out a way to solve a technical issue.

I should also have added that I’m also rebuilding the Weather-Watch Wiki. This is a manual rebuild using a recent snapshot. Each page has to be recreated and the format corrected to match current Wiki styling.

I’ve made a start, but there’s still a long way to go. Many pages still need to be re-created and I need to work on uploading images. Unfortunately the images are just a set of files in directories, many with random names, so figuring out where they go is going to be fun!

Did some more Wiki rebuilding this morning. I think the manual (in Wiki format) is about 50% complete now.

I also found a better way to locate missing images. There are copies of many of them on my NAS so I just search that by filename and then upload them.
