Maybe not a good day to compare my new Ecowitt WS68 anemo with my old WMR200. . . quite a wind loading on that lash-up 
Max gust WMR200 32.7 mph, Ecowitt 44.9 mph. Gut feeling is Ecowitt is closer to the truth: local METAR reporting gusts of 38 kts or 44 mph.
