My replacement WMR968 is functioning but I have decided to get my wind readings from a METAR rather than the station (I don’t want to be on my roof in winter if I have to change batteries). To accomplish this I checked “use speed/dir from the metar (no station)”. The results I get always show a wind speed of 0 along with gusts. You can see from the graph what I am talking about via the choppy red lines. My METAR data is also shown and it shows a windspeed of 6 while the graph shows a windspeed of 0.
Windy will probably reply to you, but just for your information he has been working on this glich. I was interested in the “humidity” capability of this particular function as we all know the WMR-968 doesn’t operate correctly in the reporting of dewpoints at 14 degrees and this would be an option to switch over to a METAR data.
Today I discovered why I really want WD to have the METAR value for wind. The METAR is showing a wind of W15 KPH and a windchill of -8C. WD is showing wind chill of -1.3C because it thinks there is no wind. I know WD gets the value from the METAR because I can watch the dials. My walk was brisker than predicted.

and yes i need to make sure the wmr968’s data is not overwriding the metar data (which is what seems to be happening)

It’s now one year later and it’s also winter again so I want to use wind from the METAR and it does not work.
I have set up 2 WDs. One is a METAR only and it records average wind speed and gust speed correctly. The other copy uses my weather station data with the exception of the wind speed which I tell it to get from the METAR. The result is that the graph only plots the gust speed with no directional data while the dials show correctly.
Simply put the graph will not record wind direction when wind is the only reading coming from the METAR.
