How to get Forecast?

Right, I’ve read about anything in this treasure chest of info, but can’t find anyway of getting forecasts from my WD…

I’m running a LaCrosse 2500. WD is capturing all data nicely and displaying them on my website. But both on the WD main screen and on the site, I only get during the day an icon “scattered clouds and sun” and at night “clear sky and moon”. This stays the same even if it’s pissing rain;…

I’m running version 10.28u. I’ve played with all the parameters in the setup program, turned them on and off, but no effect. If I choose an icon in Input Daily Weather, it stays up for a few minutes and then defaults to the above mentioned icons.

What am I doing wrong ???

Hello Mike,
I would recommend reviewing the below FAQs and see if they don’t get you started in the right direction…

Ahha !! So to get forecasts, I do need to go the Metar route ?? I thought it would take the forecast from the weather station … And when I first read the instructions, I saw the bit about METAR only for USA, so I skipped the rest.

Thanks for that info. Guess I better get going on this… looks a bit complicated.

METARs aren’t forecasts. They are current conditions. TAFs are forecasts, but don’t know if WD is able to read them.

i have added limited ability to handle TAFS now, but only to show that on the metar image.
is it that you wanted to use the forecast icon from your station?..i nevr did finish adding that ability from a 2500 station (probably mainly becuase not all that much demand for it , and 2nd because i am not a great believer in the a forecast produced by the statin

This stays the same even if it's pissing rain;..
wd should show a rain icon if its raining, which suggests to me that you must have settings set wrong in wd...email me your settings files so i can have a look (see in the faq on this forum for how to do that)

Well, I’m trying two things. One is to have the current weather shown, and 2nd to show a forecast.

I’ve done the METAR thing, I get the data downloaded fine, but no icon change. Here’s the url

I’ll check the system more next week, since I thought the METAR stuff wasn’t for me, so I’ll read more about it.

The 2nd thing is the forecast. The 2500 does show a short term prediction, and I’d like to show something, even if it’s hours off. Would be nice 24 hours or more…

FWIW, the La Crosse forecasts are based on barometric changes only IIRC which is highly suspect as a forecast method.

Yeah, but it’s better then nothing…
