I just purchased a Holstrom 1928 rain gauge. Looking for any information on this rain gauge. I am planning on hooking it to my station via a 1-wire interface. I need to figure out how to calibrate it.

Do you have a picture of it?
The general calibration procedure would be to:
Measure/calculate the area of the opening of the funnel
Let’s suppose it’s 6 inches diameter, that’s an area of (6/2)2 * pi
= 3 * 3 * 3.142 = 28.278 sq inches
This tells us that the volume of water going into the gauge for 0.5 inch of rainfall would be 14.139 cubic inches
Use one of many online calculators to convert 14.139 cubic inches to an amount of water you can conveniently measure
e.g. 14.139 cubic inches = 7.83 fluid ounces (US)
Drip that amount of water very slowly through the gauge and record the result. Adjust the gauge until you get it right, or add the correction in software.
:)Thanks I will give the procedure a try. Picts as I get it up and working.
