Hobby Boards Solar Sensor

I have just bought a Hobby Boards Solar Sensor which I have wired into my 1 wire system but I cannot get any voltage detected. On the Dallas 1 wire setup page it detects the sensor OK:

Humidity or barometer i-button found, ID CB000000B6503D26
5th Humidity i-button allocated to, ID CB000000B6503D26

But I don’t want it to be the “5th Humidity i-button” - I have entered the sensor ID into the “General Purpose ADC/Solar” box on the Solar setup page and ticked “use this as my solar sensor” but I just get 0.000mV even in full sun. I see from an old post (Please help me set up Hobby Board Sensors with WMR200) that TokKiwi had the same problem and although his was detected as “5th Humidity i-button” the same as mine, his sensor appeared in the #2 extra humidity ROM ID box on the “Extra Temperature/Humidity” tab and when he deleted it got a reading but mine doesn’t appear in the tab so I can’t go down this route. There is no mention of a 5th Humidity i-button there is only #2 to #4.

Any help would be appreciated

You have to go back to the Dallas Main/Save Page and Save in there on the red button once you have transferred the ROM ID onto the Solar page field and deleted it out of the humidity box or any field where it appears. I hope that works for you. Sometimes you have to shut the pc down and restart, but thst’s only to find them in the first place I think. Good luck…

Hi

To get rid of that humidity ID rom address

Enter some random information example barr shut down the program and restart it
it should pick up your id rom for the solar sensor

Thanks for the prompt replies

TokKiwi: I can’t delete the ROM ID out of the humidity box or any other box as it only appears as

Humidity or barometer i-button found, ID CB000000B6503D26
5th Humidity i-button allocated to, ID CB000000B6503D26

on the main/save setup tab which you can’t change or delete - see attached screenshots of the main/save tab and the extra temperature/humidity tab. I’ve saved using the save/reset button and restarted the program but to no avail

MichaelPT: Where should I enter the random information?

hi

5th humidity is correct this is the solar sensor
you need to copy the ID rom to the solaar settings if you look at the images below these are my settings
you will see in the first image 5th humidity id rom number, highlight the number
then copy the number into the solar sensor id rom please see image below

Have found my problem - I had been using a solar sensor in a jar before I bought the Hobby Boards unit and hadn’t unset the “extra temp sensor for solar sensor in a jar” in extra/misc settings from sensor#4 to #0. Now getting 180mV on a sunny day

Thanks for the help!

Walcot - that’s good - it would have been hard for us to diagnose that one - surprised that it stopped Dallas 1-Wire from giving you a mV signal though despite having the ROM ID in the right field for solar sensor and the check box ticked. OK have to remember that one for future when folks move from solar in jar to HB 1-Wire.
