Help please

Just got thee trial version of WD(will get the paid version before it expires). I was wondering if someone could assist me in setting it up(i got the data going to the program but cannot figure out what to do to get it online, i would like it set up with what it has no special coding or anything. (including the fire weather of course). So would someone mind helping me? I am very computer illiterate, so i would pretty much need a walk thorugh or screen shots.

Thanks
josh

Do you have a website already? If not that’s the first step.

Josh,

If you have a web site already then this may help you get started.
http://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/13162

May be somewhat outdated but should help…

-Bob

I do have a website, and i did try that link you gave me several times and i still cannot get my station online. I dont get where its putting all my files or anything.

mysite is http://www.josh.northwestwx.com

i would like all my weather display stuff to go to http://www.josh.northwwestwx.com/Weatherdisplay

thankss
josh

Be sure that you have used Weatherdisplay with the capital W where you have entered the name of the directory.

Look for your ftp log file ftplogfull.txt and post the content here.

where would i find this?

Josh

In your wdisplay directory.

i.e where you have installed WD

or , under view, ftp log, view full log

the files are being uploaded OK
but I suspect you need to set a remote directory, in the connections setup, like, public_html
(or what that needs to be (e.g station or /station ))

ok so i would like my files to go to josh.northwestwx.com/weatherdisplay they are uploading because i can see them when i ftp into mysite. they go in as a file name( example.gif or whatever.gif or wd.htm and so on.) so how do i correct this. sorry for all the questions.

thanks for the help
Josh

i want my page thats uploaded from weather display to look like these minus the NWS forecast stuff (or look as close as i can with just basic stuff no coding or html stuff that i have to figure out) i also would love to have fire weather set up if possible.

Josh

have you tried the “webpage setup wizard” ? That’ll give you the basic weather data, and graphs. You can add or remove stuff from there too…

have you seen a sample page of what it looks like?

ok so i would like my files to go to josh.northwestwx.com/weatherdisplay
they would only get uploaded to that directory if you set weatherdisplay as the remote directory,in the connectionsetup, and that directory exists OK

you can use custom tags to create a custom web page (e.g wxlocal.html → wx.html (and then you set the needed remote file name (e. g by using the customise internet and file creation setup (where you set the times to create and times to upload))

ok i had to stop working on it going to my site because when sending the data to my site my cpu load hit 100 and my computer would lag horribly. I am running VWS, WL, WD, VVP, and startwatch. with out going to my site with wd my cpu hit max of 28% when vws and wl are going to my site. any ideas why?

Josh

depends on what and how often you have WD set to update/upload
you can control what files to create and upload via the customise internet and file creation setup
some things only need updating daily, as the data only changes daily
other things you can update more often

etc

i tried that but im still really confused on weather display.i am probably buying it tonight but im worried i wont be able to learn how to use it.

JOsh

we are here to help

the best thing is to .zip and email me your settings files,so I can check on them
(there is a FAQ on how to do that)
